So... where can I watch that American Gods then?

Eh, if he wanted to do something so different with Trek (which his explanation for why he went with American Gods instead kind of hinted at), I'm glad he's not in charge. Its like when Edgar Wright left Ant-Man and we still got a great (and possibly better) movie. That said, its also totally possibly that CBS is screwing things up, but at this point I'm still excited and keeping an open mind, and I don't consider Fuller not being in charge to be a big deal.

I'm sure we don't know all the details, but ultimately Fuller did not deliver in a timely manner. Most employees or managers would be removed from their position. I think they gave him an ultimatum and he left. It seems that he set them back so far by dividing his time, that filming may have been delayed yet again..February now??

It's about time Trek did something different, if the delays were the studio resisting in order keep the early 2000's stagnation then it's on them. His departure has pretty much ensured I'll not be watching the first time around.

Yeh, those evil CBS execs, very publicly changing deadlines for him to him him more time, only to say enough is enough when he continued to not give the show the attention they needed him to.

Yeah glad Fuller got off the pot. In the sense that the current creative forces can move ahead and produce whatever product they're gonna produce. Would rather have had Fuller stay, given his professed love of Star Trek, but better to cut the cord than tap around in the dark.

As far as 'Star Trek' goes - I never cared for Voyager <--- And that was the show Fuller worked on - so yeah, IMO - not a loss.

There are billions of people on this planet. So why is it that creatives in Hollywood are so chronically overbooked that they can't stay on one show long enough to launch it? I ultimately think it's Fuller's mistake for trying to juggle too much at once. Pick a project and have the guts to let others go so you can finish it properly. I mean jeez, some people in Hollywood seem to chase work like they are juggling multiple minimum wage jobs. I can't imagine he has to keep this busy just to make enough money to pay his bills.

I think there's more to it than just a simple scheduling issue. The editor-in-chief of Collider wouldn't be "so so so angry at CBS" because Fuller had too much on his hands.

That's like saying you wouldn't hire David Fincher today because he directed Alien 3.

I wouldn't.

Mind you, Se7en sucked too...

No, it's like saying I wouldn't want to hire David Fincher to direct another 'Alien' franchise film because I didn't like the way he directed Alien III.
My point is that there's so many different other aspects going into things like this. Fincher has disowned that project and Fuller has talked quite negatively about his experience on VOY since then, both were young directors/writers in a system that pulled no punches towards newcomers.

It's not as simple as just looking at the names attached to it.

RMB is Robert Meyer Burnett, a frequent Collider collaborator, and was to be the director of the Axanar feature. This tweet looks to me to be nothing more than this guy looking to stir shit, and cast CBS in a negative light for his buddy who was out of a job after the lawsuit hit.

Yeah, but he's the guy who wrote Fair Haven and Spirit Folk. And Fury. And Friendship One.

And Empok Nor and Darkness and Light, two of the worst DS9 episodes.

He wrote a handful of good episodes too, but I'm not sad that the person who loved holodeck malfunctions and weird forced horror movie aesthetics isn't in control of the future of Star Trek.
