College Football 2022

Smokey Grays. Those were introduced in the Butch Jones Era when uni makers gave everyone a gray and before we had a proper black alt (something we had 100 years ago but hadn't had again until last year).

We had a black kit during Kiffin's year! I remember one of the things that annoyed me in the aftermath of that kerfuffle were people saying the black wouldn't come back because they were associated with him.

I like the Smokey Grey myself.

Yeah but I don't count Kiffin's as a proper one because he had those made by a company on the Strip with something like a week's warning. They were a fun surprise because it was Halloween but they looked pretty awful because they were obviously done in a rush.

And OMFG.... Tennessee is ranked 6th and Alabama #3 (#1 in the coaches) and Gameday is coming back to Knoxville for the game. I don't know what to think about this game. Our defense is looking better but I had no expectation of doing anything more than beating Pitt and taking down Florida and let's be honest - Florida is never a given for Tennessee. It's absolutely surreal that he we are staring at TSIO undefeated and that even if we lose to BAMA and UGA we're still on track from a season beyond my wildest imaginings.

The thing that I can't quite process is we actually do look like a top 5 team and we've got a better resume than a few others. I can't bring myself to truly believe we're beating either BAMA or UGA because as good as our offense is our defense is still very shaky in the secondary but I think we've got a better shot than most teams and maybe a better shot at picking off one of them than they have at taking down the other.

ETA: Oh damn we get SEC NATION too! My guess is that the SECN was always aiming for this game post-Florida and expected Game Day to go elsewhere but Game Day absolutely loved the visit and doesn't want to pass up on what's going to be one of the most electric environments of the year. If people thought we were bad after Florida, they have no idea what a victory against BAMA would unleash.

That was nuts.

Took a former Trojan to ice the game…with the ugliest field goal of all time!

Congrats!

2 Trojans. We have Bru McCoy too and he has been a monster for us this year at WR! I am seriously stunned by this. I don't even.....

Syracuse is looking for an upset in Death Valley.

21-10 at the half. Good game so far.

Boise State has made a great in-season turnaround. Held Air Force to half their average rushing total in a 19 to 14 win. The real story is that firing their offensive coordinator and replacing him with Dirk Koetter who had been in semi-retirement as an offensive "analyst" (and the starting quarterback quitting) after a 2-2 start has given the offense an identity. Freshman QB Taylen Green is 6'6" with the speed of a track man, but Koetter has built a run first philosopy and they're doing enough to win and have a leg up on the Mountain West Title game. Koetter says he won't be back, so they've got to make a better choice for OC...but that's next year!

DID THAT JUST HAPPEN? My God - what a game. What a win! I never expected this. OH MY GOD!

Saban needs losses to get the kids’ attention. Unlike Auburn’s Gus Malzahn (who tried to win with tricks), Nick is all about basic football.

It is hard to find new ways to tell old truths about hard work…and nothing gets the young’ uns to quit rolling their eyes than a loss.

I wonder if anyone ever thought to tape/glue diving weights on the pads of defensive players chasing running backs in shorts.

Barring a twisted ankle, when the weights come off, and the other teams running backs have to wear pads, your DBs might have that extra half-step on them…
