Cloverfield - AICN Knowles wild about film!

Apparently there's a review of Cloverfield from Knowles at AICN where he expresses what seems like pure joy over the monster film. He raves!

Seems to me that if Cloverfield is a monster hit (sorry) this means everyone and their kids will see the Star Trek trailer. That should be a good thing, I reckon. :)

I'm actually really looking forward to both the teaser trailer and "Cloverfield."

I'm going to try to see both on opening night, and I'll try to avoid teaser spoilers until after I see the trailer.

And an unsuspecting elderly couple, confused by the indistinct title, will be in every showing - making loud disguntled comments thoughout the entire movie.

I'm taking the day off to beat the crowds. Might even double dip with "I am Legend".

Sure, it makes me a nerd, but what the hay. I've got a 14 month old daughter (so we don't have a lot of time to see movies at night or on weekends) and a lot of vacation time accrued.

And oh yeah, my wife's not interested in either film, so that helps too.

"I am Legend" is pretty good... about a 7.5 on a scale of 1:10. (And that means that I rate most films about a 5.) Worth seeing, but not worth seeing repeatedly. Probably best seen at home on DVD, along with the earlier versions with Vincent Price ("The Last Man on Earth" I believe) and with Charleton Heston ("The Omega Man")

Lots of entertaining shots in a deserted NYC. But the "monsters" go from being VERY real (in some sequences) to being VERY fakey (you'll know what I mean).

I'll probably catch a matinée of Cloverfield on Friday, with my stepdad. I told him that it'll likely have the Star Trek trailer attached to it, and he is interested because he's so-so about the film right now, as a die-hard erudite, and I think he's going to let the trailer make up his first impression.

I want to see the film because I think it looks interesting, and I really enjoy cinema verite, and to me the Trek trailer is just an added bonus. Likely if I'll like it I'll see it again, probably, before the weekend's over.

Through Fandango, I saw that a local theater was offering tickets for a midnight showing, and I snapped one up.

In the interest of full disclosure, I must note with shame that my first thought as I did so was "If I see the midnight show, I'll have a better chance of posting my opinion of the teaser before anybody else!"

That's great, but... what does this have to do with the thread? :vulcan:

Can't wait to see it. I've avoided everything about the film besides the trailer and television movie teasers.

You didn't read the post immediately prior to mine, which said (among other things)

That's always a plus in my book, too. My favorite things are usually those my wife has no interest in. That helps my enjoyment tremendously.

I'm moving to Melbourne on the 16th.

Cloverfield is on the agenda for my first day there.

Does anyone know if the Trek trailer is being distributed worldwide with Cloverfield, or is it America only?

I'm sure it'll be on the World Wide Web shortly after the movie. So as long as you don't live in China or North Korea, you're all set. :p

Harry has pure joy over a monster movie? Does that mean he was invited to a premiere, i.e. Godzilla? :p

Yep.

Harry Knowles apparently thinks "Cloverfield" is the greatest thing in the history of....well the universe.

Sounds good.

My bad, didn't register that line when I read it. :)
