And I have to say, they look good. Really good.

The new city of Stratos:

The team at CBS Digital even had someone trace back through the NASA archives to get the same photograph used to show the planet surface in one of the shots. That's dedication! :eek:

I'm glad they duplicated the architecture, but I hope there's another wide shot showing the city actually floating in the sky. This shot could just be really tall buildings.

I have to agree, it's beautiful. I'm generally not a fan of the remastering, but that and the new matte painting of Flint's castle are just gorgeous.

Forbin, I'm sure we'll get a wide shot, too. It's the money shot when it comes to Stratos.

This does look good, and congrats on going back into NASA's archives and finding the original Gemini IV picture. That's fine attention to detail. :techman:

I think this looks pretty breathtaking. :eek:

This is the type of work I not only love to see in the remastered episodes, but would love to see in the new movie -- so grand and epic!

WOW.

:eek::eek::eek::techman:

That's even neater and better than I thought they'd do! To say I'm impressed with the new Stratos shot is an understatement! I just hope like someone else said that they also have shots of the city levitating in the sky from below.

Let me just echo that I'd like to see a pull-back shot showing the city floating in the clouds as well.

That said, that is one incredible shot!

I just checked the original episode on my 3-season set. It's almost a guarantee, & I would be shocked if they don't do it. The opening of the episode finds Kirk & Spock beaming to the mine entrance on the planet surface & first viewing the cloud city there above them. A distant shot of the floating city is demanded, maybe even rotoscoped with the shot of their backs as they look up at it, as in the original. I can't wait to see it tonight! It IS a gorgeous job! Hats off to those guys!!
