A doctor called Panayiotis Zavos has transferred cloned human embryos into the wombs of four women. Dr Zavos claimed in an interview with The Independent that he had created 14 cloned human embryos and transferred 11 of them into the wombs of the four women, who wanted to give birth to cloned babies.

This is very worrying as it is only a matter of time before Hitkler will be cloned.

Although Hitler cloning has been discussed before it was not realistic but this development brings it nearer to reality.

Also something people have failed to realize if you can clone 1 Hitler why not clone 10,000 Hitlers or 10 million Hitlers or even a super army of Hitlers?

Besides, I doubt there's any surviving viable genetic material from Adolf Hitler that could be used to clone him in any case. (EDIT: Oops, John Picard just beat me to the punch. True, theoretically there could be blood or other samples that were taken from him before his death, but nobody at the time would've been aware of the possibility of human cloning so there would've been no reason for anyone to preserve the material sufficiently to ensure the viability of its DNA -- particularly since no one even suspected DNA was involved in heredity until 1943 and it wasn't confirmed until 1952.)

The posters above are right. The fictional conceit of a clone as an exact duplicate right down to the personality is just that: pure fiction. A clone is an offspring rather than a copy. Its genes are the same, but genes are just one component of what makes individuals who they are. Epigenetic factors that we're only beginning to comprehend guarantee that even genetically identical individuals won't necessarily develop the same way physically, and of course an offspring (genetically identical or not) would have a different upbringing, a different environment, a different set of life experiences than the forebear. Well good athletes have special types of muscle that burn oxygen better or something and it's all to do with genetics. I'm sure by cloning someone who is physically superior to others through genetics could create a formidable army if the person being cloned was superior in many factors.

I am really tired of the lack of understanding of the science of cloning. People confuse the Sci-Fi representation that a clone is an exact duplicate, while in real life, a close is merely a construction from DNA rather than a sperm and egg.

Basically speaking, all offspring are clones of the mother and father because of the shared DNA. Just because a mother/father has excellent physical traits does not mean they will always be passed to the offspring. So, any talk of making "super soldiers" based on someone such as Arnold Schwarzenegger is, IMHO, a bunch of silly jibber-jabber.

The doctor in the article did nothing more than artificial twinning. They have been doing this with other mammals since the 70's.


The only way cloning would start a war would be if they could find a way to grow adults in short order (under a year) and transfer artificial memories into them, kinda like an instant army.

Cloning today takes the same amount of time to grow a clone to adult hood as it would a regular human.
