Clone Wars is returning!

Very likely ;), look up.

Yeah, I'd already clocked that shot as being from the Story Reels. I'm just not 100% certain they aren't cribbing certain scenes from other unproduced episodes into the new ones, since they have a limited number to work with. Also, I wouldn't put it past Filloni to have that one shot rendered purely for the trailer.
I mean that's almost certainly not the case, but still...

That shot of the camera coming down and following the LAAT into the hangar is directly from one of the unfinished episodes

Oh. I guess that would explain why they put such a long sequence in the trailer even though not much happened in it. Like maybe they wanted fans to recognize it, as a way of letting us know that, yes, they have completed at least some of the unfinished episodes.

Go watch Rebels. I won't spoil anything, but there's a number of major direct ties back to TCW that make it worth it even if you're not massively invested in the new cast of characters. Also, the coda for that show is kind of a big deal for any TCW fan...just saying.
It's not on Netflix. If they put it on the Disney service, I'll watch.

Although the scene didn't end the same, the one in the trailer ends with them looking at the fleet, while the one in the actual episode doesn't show that at all.

But it could have been edited specifically for the trailer, or they've changed it up since they planned out the scene all those years ago.

I am looking forward to this. While I enjoy "Rebels" well enough, it seems aimed at a younger audience. I prefer "Clone Wars."

I can't help but notice the composition of the final frame looks somewhat familiar...

I imagine it's still on the Disney app. I mean the series only ended a few months back.

Their website has Season 4 but nothing else. Which app are you talking about?
That's probably the one. Never used it myself and I guess I just assumed they kept the previous seasons archived on there. Guess not.

One assumes the only other (legal) options for downloading them would be Youtube and Amazon, which looking at the prices seems a bit steep for a show you're not entirely sold on. Oh well.

Will that Vong story be done now? They should keep the Disney canon stuff to a minimum.its too depressing

Could still happen. I haven’t read the new Thrawn novel yet but that threat mentioned in the first novel could be them.
Do it as a EU episode then.

I mean as it’s depressing since it leads to Han dying and TLJ. Plus it feels like nothing interesting happened in that time.

I know but back in the day, there was no Disney sequel canon and so they used ideas from the EU novels and expanded in them, such as the Nightsisters and Dathomir and this proposed Vong episode with Nom Amor. Even Darth Bane. They even were going to add Revan to a episode.
It even went the other way with the EU novels expanding on the series with Abeloth.

Rebels has used the EU as well.

I don't recall any mention of Nom Amor going to be involved with the Clone Wars episodes.

They were going to re-write the Vong anyways as George said no to creatures existing outside of the force.

I’m guessing it was going to be him. He was the only Vong who would be there at that time.

My top choice (besides Siege of Mandalore of course) would be Son of Dathomir... but I suppose because it's a graphic novel, it'll be considered 'done' and they would pass it over, correct? Same with Dark Disciple?

News worthy of celebration, clones.

From what I gather, the way they were thinking of using the Vong as a concept was as nomadic pack of savages in a story with an alien abduction vibe. Basically just sand people in space, not the great (and overblown) galactic threat they were in the EU.

So I doubt they'll waste an episode on them.

What Wookieepedia knows about it (they have sources)

https://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/The_Clone_Wars_Legacy#Yuuzhan_Vong

This story would have involved the Yuuzhan Vong in a very minimal way. A scout ship was trying to assess the strength of the Republic and what Jedi were. Pablo Hidalgo commented that it was a creepy story and would have been like an X-files episode with an alien-abduction event.[22] To better align with George Lucas' description of the Force, the Vong did not have any Force immunity in this story.[35] Pablo said the story never got into the origins of the Vong, but that they probably were from another galaxy.[36]

But there were scouts like Nom who observed the galaxy relaying messages to the fleet for the correct time to attack. I assumed the story would be someone discovering them which leads to a mystery which ends unresolved; making a good tease for the New Jedi Order saga.
