Clone Wars feature film

All of the Star Wars timelines that I've ever seen put the gap between Episodes 4 & 5 as 2-3 years. When I was a kid I always thought they were closer together myself.

Ok, so when exactly does the Star Wars books 'Alliance' take place? It is after Episode 4 and before Episode 5, but how far apart?

I've never read it (heard of it- by Zahn right?) so I'm not sure.

Edit: Oh, wait a minute, don't you mean "ALLEGIANCE" by Timothy Zahn- something about Stormtroopers?

Yeah, crap, that is what I meant

I think the only Star Wars era that hasn't been incredibly cluttered with stories is probably the "Sith" era(25,000-1000 years Before the films). There's still a gap of a couple thousand years between Tales of the Jedi/KOTOR and the Jedi Vs. Sith/Darth Bane novels. Although it's possible the new MMO will cover part of that.

In addition to Allegiance, the ANH-ESB gap is also covered by a ton of comics, such as the Marvel stuff and the Archie Goodwin/Williamson newspaper strips.

I have not seen any of those comics

Isn't there going to be a Knights Of The Old Republic 3? Also another Darth Bane book I think

The MMO is sort of KOTOR 3.

The Marvel comics are OK but a bit campy. The Archie Goodwin/Al williamson strips were written after EMPIRE (And while JEDI was in production) so there's far less continuity problems. Also Al captures the actors and technology very well. Archie's newspaper strips also deal with key developments between the films, such as the Executor being built (Which seems to have been messed up with thanks to FORCE UNLEASHED) Yavin's evacuation and the discovery of and flight to Hoth (Where we learn exactly why Luke was credited with 'leading the rebels' in the crawl).
The newspaper strips were recolored and somewhat redone for Dark Horse's "Classic Star Wars" series.

Oh, but force unleashed is awesome

Even the early Republic era, up until about ten years before the films, is barren (except for the Darth bane material at the beginning). We also have very little Dark Times material, and the early years of the New Republic (from the perspective of the Big Three) are pretty empty up until Courtship of Princess Leia.
