Clock has run out on '24'

Actually there isn't..that one wasn't official..this one is...

I just read the announcment today, and I agree with the reason...I still believe 24 jumped the shark the year Zephran Cochran was Jack's dad, and it turned out Jack's dad, and brother, were the puppet masters all along....some will argue it was earlier, not me...I thought it was good up to that point..

This season's all time low was when Starbuck became yet another nina meyer...

It's kind of a bummer, as I've been with this show from the beginning, but I too, feel it's time to pull the plug.

I just hope that they give Jack a decent send-off in the final hour.

I think they should just let him die, and his daughter is there..and as jack goes he smiles and says ..."teri''...

I hope they don't make a movie...just let it go.

You know, I was thinking of renting the DVD's of this show, but the more I read, the more I'm starting to think it's like Smallville, everybody loved it at first, and now, everybody wishes it would die. So, it is worth my time or not?

At the very least watch the first season. Addictive as hell and the show's best season. The rule of thumb with 24 is that the odd numbered seasons are better than the even numbered ones. But even when things get ridiculous the show's still fun (and unintentionally funny) to watch.

Exactly how I woudl put it Evil Twin..great job!

Strangely enough, though, I went away from Smallville way back after season three...and have enjoyed this season so much that I went and got Season 8 on DVD..so go figure..

Not so sure abot the "odds" rule. Season 2 was an even number and a pretty good season.

I'd say to go ahead and watch the series on DVD, aside from some stuff in season 6, all of the seasons are pretty good.

I dunno, I think 4 is worth watching for the nonsense, and S7 for the change of venue.

Season 6, and maybe to a point Season 8 when it comes to DVD are the only ones I'd say to skip.

Whatever season it was when Jack's dad was revealed to be the puppet master, that season was the worst...

I actually like last season too...and now that the show is nearing its run, I hope they bring back Tony and he sacrafices his life to save jack or rene or kim.

Agreed. Season 4 is just as ridiculous as season 6 or 8, but it never stops having FUN with its complete insanity. 6 and 8 certainly did/have.

I will say my piece.

I've seen every episode since the first. I have loved the show from the beginning. I do not think it jumped any sharks and it has not gone downhill enough that I would ever abandon it. If it gets a movie I will happily go to see it. If it kept getting renewed until Jack Bauer is chasing terrorists in a Hover-round and gumming "GET ON THE GROUND! >kaff, kaff< GET ON THE GROUND NOW!!!" I would still watch it religiously.

24 is one of the best television shows ever made. Cancel it if you must, but a pox on all thee who dare say it's no longer worth watching.

Just my opinion.

Eh, I tried it a couple of times but it couldn't hold my attention, even when Gina Torres was on. :rommie:

Pox me then...this "CTU insider" plot twist, ever trying to recapture the nina meyer magic, is just far too predictable and silly. This season was going good until then, IMO...

And all the technobabble crap is getting out hand too..watching Chloe work on that TRUNK line was like watching someone in shuttlecraft...oh yeah..Braga is writing this with coto...forgot..

The Gina Torres storyline was one of the more banal subplots they've done (other than the wham-bang ending, which could have come about in various far more interesting ways) so you really didn't miss much there. That was the first "We have to have a presidential storyline, right?" that teetered on the edge of boredom, but boy oh boy did they find ways to make those plots worse as the years went on.

Yeah the Torres plot in Season 3 was very lame and worse-yet carried no connection with the main story line it was just a distraction. But I'd take it over the Stabuck plot this season.
