Clever naming of star wars villans.

Anyone noticed how they have quite clever names for the villans?

They have

Darth SIDIOUS - he's quite inSIDIOUS

Darth TYRANus - he's TYRANical

General GREVIOUS - a victim and inflictor of GREVIOUS bodily harm.

Coincidence? anyone have any to add?

Coincidence?

Yes. All those names were randomly chosen and just happened to be parts of larger meaningful words by accident or fate.

Lucas came up with Skywalker by looking in a greater San Francisco Bay Area phonebook and pointing at a randomly selected page while blindfolded I believe.

Wasn't it originally Luke STARKILLER in the original draft of Star Wars?

Starkiller was some dude from USC who Lucas used to cheat off of in film class. I believe it's from the old Scottish Starkiller clan if I'm not mistaken.

No in-movie significance to that name, really.

I saw an interview where Lucass said he had his 5 and 6 year olds make up names, like Greedo, Jar Jar, Ewok, etc... I guess he figured 5 year olds have to be the pinnacle of writing acumen. Lucass.

[note: the spell check had issue with Greedo but not Jar Jar. sad, so sad.]

He's obviously a Jar Jar head. Which is obviously worse than a jar head.

As for Darth Vader, I believe "Vader" is the Dutch for father (relatively similar to the German "Vater" btw.). So I suppose the revelation about Luke's father was no big surprise to fans in the Netherlands, I assume ;).
