Classic Who on Twitch (Again!)

:ack: And you thought Adric had it tough... Dodo's grimdark post-show fate (in the novels) made his look like a happy ending.

I thought Jo and Tegan were good companions and they both had good departures. Same with Ian and Barbara.
I think it's just a mixed bag.

Wow, "The Invasion of Time" is really good!
Aside from the dodgy Vardan special effects, the equally dodgy Sontaran make-up, and Leela's weak and sudden departure, I quite agree. A number of fans hate how the show presented the interior of the TARDIS, but I've always loved it and wanted more. That's probably nostalgia talking though.

Plus, we get the show's first Time Lady, Rodan, who's clearly a precursor to Romana.

Yeah, I posted midway through the serial and I totally didn't saw the Leela thing coming. I didn't think that her leaving scene was totally unredeemable, while her leaving because she fell in love with some native does suck and feels very cliche at least the Doctor says something along the lines of "She'll protect you" and not the other way around (which would have made zero sense), but that's really all I can say in favor of that ending.

The special effects and make-up really didn't bother me; after a solid month of Classic Who I've seen worse :D

And now for the highly underrated The Pirate Planet. So very Douglas Adamsian. :D

I did like the "She'll protect you" line. On the plus side, the Big Finish audio play series, Gallifrey, did great things for Leela's time there. Teaming up with Romana helped a lot. :D

Holy friggin hell, they changed the Fourth Doctor's trailer!

Missed out on The Stones of Blood and now The Androids of Tara because of the Belgium/Japan match, but I plan to catch them on the repeat. Androids, at least, because it's a fantastic serial. I've never been fond of Stones.

Personally I think both "Androids of Tara" and "Stones of Blood" were pretty fun serials, although "Androids of Tara" is definitely better.

Except for the infamous "Taran Wood Beast" , of course. Certainly one of the lesser designs for a "monster" and did nothing to advance the plot other than to chase Romana into the clutches of the story's villain.

Okay, what is it with Doctor Who and characters looking identical without any reason? First the Second Doctor and Salamandar in "The Enemy of the World" and then Romana and Strella in "The Androids of Tara". And more importantly why do they make such good episodes?!
