Spoilers Classic Race All But Confirmed

Isn’t their planet banned to go to, under the death penalty? I always thought that was a rather extreme punishment but I suppose it was the 2360s.
Side tracking, their reasoning for why Klingons didn’t have hair in STD made me laugh. With that logic, they would always be bald. :)

Well, of course the explanation is pure bullshit: they looked that way because someone thought changing them was a good idea, and now they don't look that way because the idea bombed.

Folks are all worked up now, huh? Good times. Predictable, but good times.

I'm guessing we don't see Talos IV. We probably see a flashback or a projection of some sort. It will be really cool to see what the new take on this established TOS race will be. Hopefully there's still throbbing head veins.

2260's. The enlightened, evolved humans of the 2360s wouldn't need such a punishment, because humans don't even break laws. They also eat all their veggies.

Perhaps this is precisely why they stopped the practice. See how easy that is?

It's impressive that Discovery is both simultaneously not that popular as well as highly important enough to get people worked up. Truly impressive that feat.

Rest assured, people only get "worked up" for the "good of the franchise" and certainly not about the small little show nobody cares about nor likes.

Orville's a cover band doing someone else's Greatest Hits. :p

Not unless you count tepid, mediocre episodes of Star Trek : Voyager as the franchise's "greatest hits". :techman:

The Orville does a lot of smart, entertaining things that made the property into the franchise that it is, and which the current Trek people seem to lack the talent or skill to figure out.

Based on what I've seen of The Orville, it's entertaining sure, but i don't think it's particularly smart or ground breaking. It's TNG with dick jokes. Awesome. And all it does is tap into nostalgia for TNG. To ignore that is blatant hypocrisy. But what would I know, I only made it 5 minutes into episode 5 before i meh'd out and I wanted to like it.

You don't see me going into one of the the orville threads to shit on it, but hey that's just me. Good to see you still caring for the show you apparently don't watch and don't care about.

The Orville isn't part of a long-running franchise that goes back decades. Star Trek fans are going to talk about Star Trek in all its various forms, for good and ill.

Like the opening of the Seventh Seal for the 2-3 posters who don't care, don't watch, but will assuredly lose their minds.

I hope it happens.

And purple skin. Bright purple skin with cybernetic implants.

I'm writing a letter to Kurtzman right now.

No wait....Ariam is a Talosian, just without the pruple skin.

Yep.

Lots of people talk about STD? Well, lots of people talk about Trump.

One of the things I like about Orville is that it's just a great TV show, a week at a time. They can do whatever they choose, and they've dumped most of what drags Trek down.

Most people overstate their love for The Orville not because they love The Orville, but because they are trying to add that to the list of annoying DSC detractor traits online. It's part of the "stick it to ya" tactic they've used from day one, as though it's a competition...when clearly it is not, and one show has nothing to do with the success of the other. It's sad that the tactic has been to draw a line...but then again, that's how a lot of combative people operate in order to generate the desired conflict.

There simply isn't enough substance or depth there for anyone to actually be that passionate about. It's like saying that your favorite meal is lightly buttered popcorn. It's just over-compensation for not having gotten what they wanted.

You'd be surprised. I already have The World of The Orville book, my wife the four division patches and I'm stalking online forums daily for information on a DVD/Blu-ray release of season one.

It is a show that is simply fun in a way Star Trek hasn't been in a long time, outside of the Abrams films. There is an actual sense of adventure to The Orville that I find sorely missing in Star Trek: Discovery.

Of course, everyone's mileage will vary.
