Chuck Wendig fired by Marvel.

Chuck has been fired from his Marvel book, Shadow of Vader.

Basically, because "In Wendig’s own words, “it was too much politics, too much vulgarity, too much negativity on my part.”

This is sort of outrageous on Marvel's part. Unlike Gunn, this wasn't past behavior. Unlike Gunn, these weren't discovered. And unlike Gunn, these weren't tweets joking about pedophilia. Wendig has been tweeting like this for a LONG time and continues to do so, pushing back against hate, bigotry and toxic fandom.

This sudden pearl clutching on Marvel's part is terrible.

Just because they aren't toxic doesn't mean they can't be dicks and treated as such.
Personally, I don't find him self-centered. Confident, sure. But, then, he busts his ass to make a living as a writer. And a part of that is confidence. Some people don't like that.

If your job knew you were a public figure and had behaved consistently the same way for years and still hired you and then fired you for that same behavior, doesn’t make sense, does it?

Wow, the comic company ran by a rich jackass friend of a certain orange asshole fires a guy who criticizes the orange asshole. I'm sure this was completely coincidental, and Wendig definitely deserved to get fired

I wasn't even a huge fan of some of Wendig's SW work, but if Perlmutter and his cronies are going to fire everyone who doesn't like his BFF, Marvel Comics is basically just going to be Nick Spencer writing and drawing everything. Well, at least when Perlmutter is gone control reverts to Disney, who will presumably put someone who isn't a nutjob in control. It could take 10-20 years (rich people tend to last longer), but eventually Marvel Comics will have a sane person running it. Sucks for Wendig that the current nutjob is in charge, but there is still DC and all the smaller publishers who I'm sure will hire him, and he's also a book author (and Marvel Comics isn't in charge of SW in general, so he could probably still get work writing SW novels, which would be a great FU to Marvel). His career will be fine even if he won't be getting Marvel Comics work until Perlmutter is pushing up daisies.

It makes perfect sense if you work for a company like Disney and my company would do exactly the same even if I was a public figure. When you get a job, you work by their rules. Case closed. Chuck knew exactly what he was getting into. He needs to quit acting like a child and grow the fuck up.

THEY also knew what they were getting into. They hired him before. After Marvel was bought by Disney. He has always been like this. His behavior is nothing new. Perhaps they shouldn’t have REhired him.

That's a shame, I haven't read any of his stuff yet, but the new series did sound interesting.
Recently, I went thought a whole chain of writer's Twitters, and Wendig's was one of them. I don't really remember anything from the last few weeks or maybe couples months that really stuff out to me as particularly offensive.
It sounds like he's been like this pretty much for as long as he's been active on social media, so I do have to wonder why the hell they even hired him.
