I can see why these dreams have started for Chuck.
Remember, when he was going through all that angst trying to get back with Sarah he had problems getting the Intersect to flash. He was full of self-doubt and worry, which seemed to inhibit how well his mind meshed with the Intersect.
Then look at him when he started to make his play for Sarah around episodes 11-13. He started being able to flash as he needed to. And then he got Sarah, and his confidence shot up. He started to really want to be a spy in episode 14 and he started being able to flash on command. Like when he did the flip through the train window, speak French fluently, and the fight scene at the end.
Now he not only has Sarah, but she has moved in with him. He has become so filled with confidence now and that is causing the Intersect to mesh even more solidly with his mind. So much that his sub-conscious is now using the Intersect to flash when he goes into REM sleep. Chuck misinterpreted the dream at first. The doctor seemed to be an information courier for the Ring rather than trying to assassinate the Sweathog president (remember him from Welcome Back, Kotter?). Which is what Chuck's dream was really saying. Shaw, a Ring agent now, was delivering a package from Zimimbe (sp?). Chuck's sub-conscious mind is using the random stuff he sees (like the newscast) and cross checking that with the Intersect database while he is sleeping now.
Which means that as long as he is feeling this happy with everything in his life, he is not going to be able to get a peaceful night's sleep.
But hey, he IS in California. A mental condition like that would qualify him for medical marijuana. Maybe he should get a medical recommendation to use it so he can take a bong hit before bed time to "turn his brain off"? (that was actually a joke of an idea by a friend of mine he suggested while we watched the episode last night)
