Chris Pine appreciation thread

Penhall99, welcome to the thread. We like Kirk here. :) Don't be a stranger.

I did not see your question Jeri, yes they come unassembled in a box about the size of two DVD cases one in front of the other. Clones.
Well, that's what I saw then. I was surprised they were the same dimensions as the other boxes; nice packing. I had already bought the package at Best Buy with the pins; oh well, who knows, I might get to wear the pins sometime at a costume party.

Jeri, I didn't get the "stinkin' badges" (sorry, i cannot help myself. I hear that in my head all the time now. Voices! Be QUIET!) but i do have a couple of different 'communicator pins' that i wear on my coat lapels. Don't save them for Halloween!

 That was impossible to miss, wasn't it! What size are your lapel pins?

"You of all people should know." Ooh. To me, that one line is what this whole scene was about. It was Kirk and Spock out of the starting gate after that.

Wow, Jeri. Those are beautiful pictures. Saving them all.

Got my GQ magazine and bought the People Magazine as well. Woo hoo and whew!!

I watched the extras on the blu-ray last night and they are awesome. This is just about the best special features dvd I have ever seen, although admittedly I have not seen that many.

Pam, we went shopping, and I saw two GQ's left with the Eastwood cover.

The pictures are my pleasure. :D

Just watched this video from the DVD Release Party and Bruce Greenwood is starting to move up on Karl Urban as my second favorite in the movie I gotta tell you (Kirk being first of course). I burst out laughing when the interviewer gets to him. This is John, Zoe, Zach, Karl and Bruce all describing what they would like to see their characters do in the next film.

Ohmigod, Tom, I so agree. I laughed so hard when I read that on the other thread. You go, girl (Randi). Couldn't agree more. Lol.

Karl Urban's voice.... He sounds so different from McCoy, Eomer, and whatever his character's name was in DOOM. :rommie: I don't mean his accent, but the actual SOUND of his voice, across all three of those movies, sounds the same. The tone and pitch of his voice. But it sounds nothing like when he was talking in that interview.

"No beeping, no blinking -- it's been done!" Thanks for the video.

OMG -- I never caught that strangle picture by Randi! Where is that -- in the caption thread?!? That is so hilarious!

Just finished watching the movie and it was great seeing it again. Didn't get to have the viewing with friends and popcorn as the friend who was hosting it fell and broke her ankle in three places last Thursday evening. Ow, ow, ow. Here are a couple of pictures from Delta Vega:

 OW! Sorry to hear that! That's a pretty good excuse.

Thanks for the pictures; Chris has such a cute mouth.

Well, lessee. Here's a still photo from "Carriers," at releaselog. He's looking buff!

And for the holiday you can make "Cranberry Streusel Shortbread Bars" step by step with Star Trek fan Evil Chef Mom, including a couple movie photos. The bars look pretty good and easy. I might try that myself.

And finally, DVD Rental Spain.com had this to say:

Star Trek (2009): A simple title. Good character development and excellent use of special effects. A talented ensemble cast including some big name actors in small roles, such as Winona Ryder as Spock’s mother. What J.J. Abrams does is revive a franchise that richly deserves a second chance. This film is one of the best science fiction flicks that I have seen. The last time I was wowed like this in a movie theater was watching Star Wars for the first time. It is even worth the extra money to see this action film in IMAX, because this film fills the big screen in a way very few can any more. James T Kirk (Chris Pine) and Spock (Zachary Quinto) go back to their roots and emerge bigger than life. Gene Roddenberry conceived Star Trek as a western film set in space. This new Kirk is a cowboy again and it is just plain fun to see him and Spock firing their phasers at the bad guys. Shoot’em up Kirk, outsmart’em Spock and beam me up Scotty! I am ready to see this one a second time. 5 stars from a die-hard Trekkie.

Jeri, oooooh those arms are looking good! What a great review too.

Pam, nice catch of those lips! The magic they made in the movie is amazing. To watch the behind the scenes stuff and actually see how little that snow set was...incredible!

I called our Barnes & Noble, and they have the GQ with Chris on it! I reserved one and am going to pick it up after lunch.

Ok, here's the comedy scene; so don't kill the messenger if Jim looks silly!

They didn't call my name...

Nice arms.

That black uniform is sexy.

What did Chekov say about a lightning storm in space...

I can fix that! (Chris looks like Shatner here.)

Popping in real quick...trying to get my stuff done here in the house so i can get out and get my GQ!!!

Jeri, awesome catch on that sweet smile he gives McCoy when he tells him to "be safe". Just beautiful! And did you hear how one of the guys on the commentary is in love with Pine's nose??? (It IS a perfect nose)....

Which reminds me, i wish they identified each voice on the commentary as they spoke. At times i wasn't sure who was talking.

I love the pic and line that you posted, "I don't feel right, I feel like I'm leaky."

Randi, I laughed so hard when the one commenting from New York mentioned Chris's nose and the others teased him about having a crush on his nose. They tease him about it again at the end of the commentary. Hee hee. Wish they had talked more about the scenes as the movie progressed instead of the general stuff but it was interesting if a little disappointing. The one scene they did talk about when it was on the screen was the scene between Kirk and Pike in the bar. That was really interesting.

Here's Kirk, where he belongs.
