Chris Pine appreciation thread

last time im gonna post in this topic. here's a statement olivia made on her forum.

I have to say thank you all very much for understanding that even though I am very open with you and give you so much credit for where I am today, my private relationships have always been off limits for me. So, even though I understand the intrigue, I appreciate that all of you have not hounded me about it. Because, you're right, I won't ever talk about it

Wimpy, i'm hoping you peek in again....would you please either PM me or post the link to Olivia Munn's forum? I'd really like to read it. Many thanks!

Tonight had better be a bonanza night of mail - Just My Luck and the blu-ray of Star Trek XI.

Anyone actually found a copy of Chris' edition of GQ on the stands? I don't know whether to start looking for it.

I saw in the mailbag this morning that it's due out now on Tuesday, the 24th.

(This is the second time I'm posting this comment; strange, but the first one just didn't show up.)

Thanks, Jeri. Some people have said they have it already but maybe they have subscriptions. I am going to do some calling tonight just to make sure.

Only 1/2 hour til I get off work and can see if my movies came in the mail. Some friends and I are getting together this weekend for a Star Trek viewing with popcorn. Can't wait.

Who'd believe we'd be so excited to see it on the small screen after having seen it on the big screen probably over 50 times among the 4 of us. Hee hee. At least this way we don't have to be quiet - comments and giggles ensue.

That is a big advantage to home video.

Oh wow. I read somewhere that Leonard Nimoy said he cried the first time he saw Kirk and McCoy meet in the film. What a great guy he is.

Here's a picture from Just My Luck since I'm so happy I'll get to see it tonight or over the weekend.

Tom, I think I'm jealous! How much did that set you back?
Get this. This version with the special case, was $29.99, but on sale for $26.99 available ONLY at Target. Still has the 2 discs with the special features and the Digital Copy. The REGULAR case version with the 2 discs, special features, and Digital Copy is being sold at Target for an original price of $34.99, but on sale for $22.99.

The regular one at full price costs MORE. Makes NO sense. On sale though the special case is only $5 dollars more. It's a pretty solid piece of work so I think it's worth it.

Finished watching Just My Luck and I liked it. It is very sweet and Chris is wonderful in it. Plus I think he had some nice chemistry with Lindsay Lohan and he has great comedic timing, but we know that. When he walked into the masquerade party with the mask on and the nice suit it was hard to believe that was the same guy as the nerdy, geeky guy seen earlier.

Tom, I saw some sets at Target, but I wasn't sure if they were the same as what you and others are getting. I mean, the box was the same size as the other blu-ray set, but it clearly had the saucer section visible through a clear-plastic window. So, what's the deal -- it comes in a flat pack, and needs to be assembled? I was wondering.

Pam, I haven't ever seen JML; but I bought it, and it's a pleasure awaiting me. :D Glad you liked it!!

Today in the google Chris-alert mailbag, among others, MTV covered the GQ issue. Here's their take.

Chris Pine And The Boys Of 'The Hangover' Ham It Up As GQ's Men Of The Year: Cover Story

Posted 11/17/09 1:38 pm ET by MTV News in Eye Candy, Movies, On The Newsstand

By James Dinh

The year is coming to a close and it’s that time for magazines to decide who they want to cover their coveted year end issues. And for GQ, Chris Pine was their perfect choice as he poses comfortably with his baby blue eyes complimenting his blue suit on the cover of their December issue. Call it a good stylist or maybe just a coincidence. In the issue, the “Breakout of The Year” actor, talks about growing up, how he got into acting and his hesitating choice to jump on ship for the latest installment of the "Star Trek" franchise.

While you may have seen him in various roles throughout the past years including "The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement" and "Smokin’ Aces," it’s almost shocking how Chris came into acting. “Basically, I was always looking to find a group of friends, and theater provided that,” he revealed to GQ.

But Chris knows the reality of growing up, noting how “privileged” he was to be raised in the Valley Village of California. “Definitely sheltered. But I’d also seen the ups and downs of a career where, if there’s no work, there’s no work,” he admitted. He even took a small break during his career until his agents approached him about a "Star Trek" project.

And while die hard "Star Trek" fans obviously caught the this year's film, Chris told the magazine he was reluctant to accept the role as Captain Kirk. “I said, ‘Are you kidding?’ That’s the last thing I want to do,” he recalled. Fortunately, his decision to join the project worked to his benefit, as the blockbuster brought in legions of (mostly female) adoring fans.

To read Chris’ entire interview, head over to GQ's Men of the Year headquarters on Friday. If you’d rather see tear out pictures of Mr. Pine, as well as the other GQ honored men, to hang on your wall, then pick up the issue, which hits stand on Nov. 24. And as a bonus, the magazine will roll out with covers of football player Tom Brady, President Obama and our favorite trio of guys from this year’s comedy, "The Hangover" (pictured above).

If you'd like to see all five covers on one page, this site has them.

My pleasure! Randi, I noticed this additional registry number at the shipyard in the academy shuttle scene. Look in the very upper left-hand corner to see "1701" on the shuttle bay. :)

Also, I couldn't prevent myself from getting a screen cap of this handsome man.

I have yet to do that. Im hoping for rain this weekend so i can justify staying in and watching the movie again rather than doing yard clean-up. :guffaw:

Love Bruce Greenwood. I really hope Pike is in the second one.

Here's another cute picture from Just My Luck. I found I really liked the music of McFly, the band he was trying to promote.

WOO HOO! I am really looking forward to that now! :D

I saw an interview recently regarding Bruce, and I think it said he is going to have something to do in the next film. I'll see if I can find that interview. I just love that guy. When I get finished with Kirk, I think I'm going to do some Bruce screen caps.

I have yet to do that. Im hoping for rain this weekend so i can justify staying in and watching the movie again rather than doing yard clean-up. :guffaw:
Thank gawd for winter! No yard work!
