Chris Pine appreciation thread

Just saw this on Twitter. From Chris-Pine.org:

"It’s been over a year since we heard that Ben Affleck and his Gone Baby Gone writing/producing partner, Sean Bailey, nabbed the rights to bring the novel The Blade Itself to the big screen. Contrary to popular belief, just because news about the film isn’t flooding the Internet, doesn’t mean development has come to a halt. In fact, we’ve learned that progress has been made on the hush hush.
According to Pajiba, Star Trek’s Chris Pine signed on to star in the film in May, but as of six weeks ago, his status changed from starring to attached. Pine is scheduled to meet with the film’s top directorial candidate before sealing the deal. As for the director, Pajiba says the individual set to rendezvous with Pine is not Affleck.
If Pine does sign on to star, the role will be a great departure from Star Trek’s James T. Kirk. The Blade Itself is based on the Marcus Sakey novel about a pair of young friends, Danny and Evan, who commit a slew of petty crimes together until something goes horribly wrong. Years later, we meet the boys again who have grown to lead completely different lives. Danny has a family and a successful career but Evan is an ex-con with a vengeance. Danny is forced to do whatever it takes to protect the ones he loves from his dark past.
Don’t think Pine can hack it in a gritty crime film? Check out Bottle Shock. It’s as far from a crime film as you can get, but it does show the guy is versatile. He’ll be putting that resourcefulness to good use in the coming years. Since the release of Star Trek, Chris has signed on to a handful of projects. There’s The Art of Taking Money, Unstoppable and, most recently, buzz about Pine becoming the new Jack Ryan. Maybe if all goes well with The Blade Itself, Affleck will give him some tips on portraying iconic CIA agent."

If he does this, I kind of hope he plays Danny.

Me, too; it's hard watching him be a bad guy. Thanks for that tweet; not really sure what to make of Chris's project status. It's kind of frustrating.

SQ, was that a Season 3 Burn Notice? We haven't got that far yet. We're working through Season 2 DVD set, which came out recently. We just wait and then watch things all at once.

These are screen caps I picked from the big batch at the link posted this morning; they're not my own. I don't have the discs yet; so thanks to the person who did them (Uluviel)!

Nice butt.

White Collar is a new series on USA by the same guys who do Burn Notice. They've only shown two episodes but it's getting a lot of buzz. The lead, Matt Bomer, is a dear friend of Zachary Quinto's.

The picture you titled nice butt is my desktop wallpaper. Lol. I do like a nice...

If he does The Blade Itself in May he could be ready to film the next ST easily by the end of the year if they are ready to go and my fingers are crossed on that hope. Then he can do the other two Paramount projects. One busy guy but I read somewhere he likes to work so this all must be making him really happy.

He he, yes. Don't we all like a nice...

Oh, I see, regarding White Collar. I just asked my husband, and he's heard of it. Burn Notice is pretty nice, since the plots are a little complicated and keep you going. The characters are good, too.

So you think they might actually get the sequel out in 2011? I've always had my doubts about that.

I think everyone's hoping it will come out in 2011 instead of 2012 as long as J. J. Abrams can direct it. Zoe Saldana apparently said recently that she was asked about how free her schedule was next year and J.J. Abrams is not directing the new Mission Impossible movie now so there's speculation that they might start filming perhaps as early as the end of next year.

startrekrcks, my pleasure. Congratulations, SQ! We're expecting big things from you. That one is lovely; it must be part of the same shoot earlier. I like the tone of those.

From the mailbag this morning, there is an MTV interview with J.J. Abrams about the sequel, where the salient Chris Pine mention goes:

"J.J. Abrams nailed the recasting of "Star Trek" icons James T. Kirk and Spock for his big screen reboot this past May. The question, "Who in the world could possibly replace William Shatner on the Enterprise flight deck?" was answered with the resounding cry, "Holy crap is Chris Pine good!"

And next there is a Chris Pine Radio. There are two installments so far; I haven't listened to them. If you do, I'd like to hear what you think.

Morning girls!

Jeri, thanks for posting those caps! They are super! But...omg. That last pic. LOVELY! I also signed up for Google alerts. Ladies, i think we have it bad!

Congrats Starquest for getting to 50 posts and the ability to post pics. NOW the fun begins!

Hey, Randi! Good morning. :)

Starquest
, just curious -- were you aware Chris's family also lives in Valley Village? They moved there in 1993, so Chris must have lived there, too. Did he go to your high school?

One on one with Robert Pine

You coulda had a V-Chris! I saw some pictures from that trip around the net. Well, at least you know he goes there sometimes now.

Yes, indeed. I just had a thought -- will Chris be doing conventions? Somehow I wasn't thinking about that. Maybe it's because he seems like a bigger star than convention fare, I guess.

Wow, that last picture. Just...wow!

I read that his family lives here in Valley Village, which is a suburb of Los Angeles, so the odds of walking past any one of them on the streets are very small. I didn't go to high school here (I am from the Washington, D.C. area originally) and I'm quite a bit older than Chris. It's kind of fun to think that he was growing up and going to school right here in my neighborhood. Valley Village is part of the San Fernando Valley, along with Burbank, Glendale, Studio City (where I work), Sherman Oaks, Toluca Lake and Encino all sprawled out together.

I haven't listened to the Chris Pine Radio yet and won't be able to until I get home from work tonight. I hope it's still available by then.

Oh, I see; well, you never know. He might come back for Thanksgiving or something. We visited around there again a few years ago when my mom was still living out there; I always like SoCal.

You're really getting me jazzed about that movie coming out! Keep us posted! Nice picture!

Love that picture of him. He seems so calm and relaxed.

I am really jazzed about Small Town Saturday Night. Also, I am really, really jazzed that the Star Trek dvd is coming out in 2 weeks.

Yeah, me two! I've got a regular countdown going on here at home.

Jeri that last picture is really really nice! *sigh*

I like his hands in that, too; I like nice hands, and he has a beautiful pair.
