Chris Pine appreciation thread

Aw, I thought this was the Chris Pike appreciation thread.

Yeah. Silly me. I thought this was going to be about appreciating him as a fine actor. He just got some raves in a play in LA and an actress friend of mine said he liked to keep doing theatre because it kept him grounded.

I could mention all the great acting moments from the movie but apparently this is not the place for that.

Perhaps you have not noticed siegezunt said Chris PIKE...not Pine? He of "dare to do better" fame and shirtlessness in "Treacherous Beauties."

Actually, it has been discussed (albiet in another thread) that he does seem to have some real talent. He hasnt been in a whole lot yet, but almost every role has been entirely different than the one before.

As for me, he's fine, no matter what he is doing.....

Taking on the role of James T Kirk and trying to make it realistic as opposed to Shatner's over the top interpretation is no small feet. The fact that Pine managed to bring out another side of Kirk in the first place shows some real talent.

Just having the cajones to even try is huge in my book.

i dont know.
we actually get to see him mature as kirk before our eyes throughout the film.

just contrast the koybashi scene with the later scene after he melds with spock and then as he takes over as acting captain.

he acquires a deal of gravitas as the movie goes along.

That's what I appreciate. Having now seen him in ST and "Bottle Shock", the boy's got game.

...and I suppose he's kind of good-looking, ladies.

I thought his acting was rather good in Star Trek. I haven't seen him in anything else though.

I tried to find some pictures from "Smokin' Aces" but they were all too teeny tiny. My quest continues!

Biggshow: Bottleshock was an interesting film, and i thought he was darn good in it, but the wig they had on him......dear gawd! Didnt anyone even LOOK at that thing? I swear, that was the worse wig i ever saw.

I am hoping Carriers will be a halfway decent film. I suspect it might have gone straight to video if not for his recent fame. *Keeping fingers crossed*

I was hesitant going into STXI, but it blew me away, Pine as Kirk certainly not the least of which. I've come to associate Shatner as Kirk, but Pine IS Kirk in STXI, and I'm more than happy to have him take over. I mean...Shatner's acting is honestly more true to the Family Guy sketch with Shatner in Fiddler on the Roof than some people would like to admit.
