Chris Pine appreciation thread

Gawd, we just got the Big Bang Theory DVD's and started working on them; there's a joke in there about Spock's dad at the sperm donor lab and a publication with "pointy ears" in the title...

I love TBBT! The episode where Sheldon tells Leonard he must keep dating this doctor he's seeing because if Leonard's Kirk, he (Sheldon) is Spock and therefore since she's a doctor she's their McCoy. And then there's the rock, paper, scissors, lizard Spock episode. And the bloopers are hilarious. Bazinga!

Here are some pictures of Chris at the Meet and Greet for the play "The Lieutenant of Inishmore" at the Mark Taper Theater. Seeing the play this coming Wednesday evening and I can't wait.

Thanks, Pam! Love your pictures. You're going to see it!?! Wow! Be sure to tell us all about it.

I noticed on my Time Warner Cable "On Demand" that you could watch STSN, so if you were not inclined to buy the movie but would still like to see it, consider looking into whether your provider has it available.:techman:

SO???!!!! How was it??!!;)

I'm sorry I haven't had a chance to talk about the play and Chris and I've been dying to. My sister is coming to visit me today for a few days and I have been spending all my spare time getting the apartment ready.

The play was fantastic. It was hilarious, it was shocking and it is definitely controversial. Even though we were in the fourth row, and at the Mark Taper that is very close to the stage, I took my binoculars. I only used them a few times but let me say that Chris Pine is beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. He exudes so much presence and charisma that you can't take your eyes off of him. The other actors in the play are wonderful. I would recommend it highly but with the understanding that there is a lot of violence in it - squeamish violence. A few people walked out. People planning on seeing it should read about it first and decide if they think they can handle it.

My friends and I plan to see it a few more times. On July 20 there will be a Q&A after the play. The previous times I have attended these after a play the whole cast and producer(s) and the director have come out to answer questions from the audience. We are hoping that Chris will participate in this on the 20th. We also have tickets for the last performance.

We had a wonderful time and remembering the happy expression on Chris' face when they took their bows will stay with me for a long time.

Oh, that was wonderful, Pam! Thanks so much. I'll just have to imagine how beautiful he is close up. Probably need SPF 70 when he gives that sunny smile. Please let us know anything more you learn from the Q&A or other performances.

It's time for a colorful metaphor; I'm liking this one today. So, Pam, any more news about the play?

Ha ha, Jeri, that screencap made me laugh! Poor Jim! Oh, Bones, why you gotta be so fast and loose with the hypos?

After that experience, you can't blame Jim if he skips out on his required physicals!

Sunday evening a friend and I went to the Opening Night of "The Lieutenant of Inishmore" and waited in the standby line to see if we could get in, which depends on whether there are any cancellations or no-shows. Opening Night is for family, friends, the press, etc. - invited guests only. We were fifth and sixth in line and were lucky enough to get in. I also lucked out in that I wound up in the front row, albeit in the farthest seat to the left as you go in. My friend was in row M and just left of center. Chris' dad was there but unfortunately neither of us caught a glimpse of him. I did see Johnny Galecki and I was happy about that since I love "The Big Bang Theory." I was also really happy to see Chris' friend from The Ivy Walls, Jeff Yanero. The play was great and everyone seemed to really enjoy it. In case you haven't seen this picture here's one from the play:

Here's another picture from the after party, which we didn't attend as it was just for invited guests. I don't know who the guy is in the middle but the guy on the right is in the play - Ian Alda. I love this picture because Chris looks really happy and he must be even happier today because the reviews have been almost uniformly glowing. The Hollywood Reporter and Daily Variety both loved it and him in it.

I love those pictures! Thanks and thanks for your story, Pam. I was just looking around and found a review online.

(You saw Johnny Galecki! He's great; I adore BBT. Preordered on the September 3rd season blurays.)

Theater Mania

Neither for the squeamish nor PETA members, Martin McDonagh's rip-roaring black comedy, The Lieutenant of Inishmore, being produced by The Center Theatre Group at the Mark Taper Forum, will likely delight everyone else with its delicious mixture of harsh belly laughs and cringe-worthy Grand Guignol effects.

The talented cast, led by film and stage star Chris Pine, succeeds in creating vile characters that are nevertheless fascinating. Director Wilson Milam masterfully stages the plot with a flow that presents chaos in an orderly fashion, without allowing the audience to see the seams, and Matthew W Mungle has created a proscenium of realistic gore.

Padraic (Pine), the title character, is a sociopath with a fixation on his dearest friend: his childhood cat, Wee Thomas. With a grisly taste for torture and delusions of grandeur, Padraic is almost a tragic hero, particularly in Pine's clever portrayal...(cont.)

I was able to catch tonight's showing (the theatre is a 10 minute walk from my place). It was really entertaining and funny, especially if you like violence and gore. Chris Pine was pretty good. He does a decent Irish accent.
