Chris Columbus directing the new Superman movie?

The lackluster box office for Knight and Day may lead to Mission: Impossible IV being reworked or maybe even scrapped altogether.

I doubt that. The Mission: Impossible franchise is still a commodity for Paramount and I don't think they would do that to J.J. Abrams, who has been very good for Paramount so far.

On the topic at hand, I don't think Chris Columbus will direct any Superman movie. He just doesn't seem like the type that would jive with the likes of Christopher Nolan, whom I am assuming would have some say as to who steps into the director's chair.

Chris Columbus directing a Christopher Nolan movie would be like Steven Seagal starring in a Martin Scorsese movie.

They may not scrap it altogether, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it reworked. The idea is that they'd shift the focus away from Cruise by introducing a new young star who'd be part of Ethan Hunt's team.

I can see that. If I was Paramount, I would try and introduce a new team or new lead star anyway, since if they want to prolong the series as much as possible, and steer away from Cruise, that might be their ticket.

Everyone knows James Cameron is gonna' direct the new Superman movie.

Really...I read it on a site on the internet.

^ You're the director that TrekBBS deserves, but not the one it needs right now. Negative posts garner a lot more attention than positive posts, so Chris Columbus or Brett Ratner or Paul W.S. Anderson are the way to go. And somehow they need to get Avi Arad onboard too. :p

I want Tom Welling to direct the next Superman movie...

I am not kidding!!!

:p

Collider debunks the rumor that Chris Columbus has been offered the job:

Contrary to yesterday's online rumor, trusted sources have told us that Chris Columbus has NOT been offered the chance to helm the next Superman movie. Yesterday’s rumor was just one of those cases of a titillating story catching fire and igniting intense speculation. And it wasn’t the craziest rumor ever. Columbus is known for putting together big franchise pictures (the first two Harry Potter movies; Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief). But Columbus hasn’t been offered the opportunity to put together Superman’s next adventure on the big screen.

Pfft. People trying to assume and speculate that Columbus is directing the movie when it is quite obvious and clear I am directing.

Really? No shit.

Fade in on Superman's son getting stabbed by a kryptonite knife. The whole movie travels backwards revealing how we got to that point in the end. And then Superman travels around the Earth to prevent it from happening.
