SW, if I may suggest something... now that the Chiron is able to use the Conduits, there was a standard Class 1 Probe placed at the entrance to the Conduit in Cardassian Space, I think just for safe keeping that should be replaced with a Mine, just in case.

However, it’s going to take a while to process those Drones that are on it.

Well, once we get the Drones out of it, Mr. Leyor needs to put some of his guys in it, to check it out, diagnose the systems and stuff like that, so, you’ll need to take them out to Cold Station. Then, once the guys out there reprogram the Drones, you need to take them out to that Planet where we have those Borg at, and I got some supplies for them too.

OH...so what you’re saying is, I got to take a bunch of Borg out there...ahh...how many ?

Well ahh... there’s over one hundred right now, it probably will take you a few trips, but your quarters are pretty large, you can get at least ten in there with you.

I want to leave a Synthetic in the Protected Area for a while at least, I’m looking at some quality Equipment, but, anything can happen to it, I guess that’s why they have Warranties on that stuff. But, yes, at some point replace or augment the Synth with someone for caretaking and housekeeping. I’ll try to select someone from their Community if possible.

Yes if necessary, using the Holographics will allow the Doctor or another EMH to provide them with any help they need. That area is not very well developed, and I’d have a hard time explaining transporting a serious injury to a Hospital somewhere.

No problem, totally enclosed in the Mechanical Room or Roof Area, and I’m going to use Evaporative Cooling for the Classrooms and Community area. Refrigerated Air for the central core, Medical and Teachers Lounge. Good water is directly below them and the Pump will be inside the building.

Well, it’s very cost conservative to operate, I wanted to leave the Building sorta open, the doors, and with the Humidity at about 2% average around there, even Evaporative will freeze um out, especially at night, HA !

Sure do, I included a strip of land 50 Meters wide, all the way from their Highway C-82, due west to the property. And the property is 1000 acres. Just wanted to make sure they had plenty of room to expand.

Well enough, the Doctor is still evaluating the Queen’s removal from the Sphere, though I think it’s going to take a considerable investment to do that. Anyway, they’ve processed about half of the original crew, and they could be taken out to the Hugh Planet any time. Once having evacuated those from Cold Station, which could happen soon, will relieve the Sphere where Mr. Leyor’s people can enter and do a thorough investigation of its systems.

Ok, but is Hugh ok with the influx of Drones to his community ?

Yes, we might transport them some additional supplies to support the larger number of them for now, but he said that they would increase their crops and other support as required. However, if this ever becomes a burden to them, you know there’s another Planet somewhere in the Delta Quad, which has an independent group of Borg on it. OH or it was the last report I had from the Voyager Mission.

Well yes, if it still exists and the inhabitants are amenable to receiving additions to their population. That’s something that Prax can look into, when he gets back on his route.

I’m very confident about that, we’ve given it a 24 passenger and 6 private compartment capability, and have forgone any major weapons, for Shields and Speed. My thought was if they couldn’t hurt us and we were fast, it may avoid any real battle, if that sounds reasonable.

It sure does, but, just what weapons does it have, just in case ?

We’ve increased its Phaser type to a Class 8, it had an Array of the Mini Torpedoes, which I had Mr. Phloux add the Exographic Targeting Sensor capability to it, so, we could disable propulsion on just about anyone’s ship we know of so far. Also, I’ve given a fair selection of the types of charges for the Torpedoes, just in case.

Ummm... I’m scared to ask any more about that, but... lethality ?

Ahh yea, it’s got a Thalaron Capsule ready, just in case.

The Alixia, coming along quite well. Mr. Loomis our Dock Master is very pleased to be getting rid of some of the older systems he had stored. Actually, it has been more of a touch up for it, things on it were just left unattended, and we really haven’t spend that much in getting it space worthy. One thing we changed was the Shuttle Bay Door. We increased its size where Mr. Neelix can get his little Ship in the Bay.

Ok, any other special capability being installed on it ?

Not really SW, but again I was looking for it being tough and fast, rather than very lethal, so, no “large” weaponry on it other than increasing its Phaser capability to a narrow beam Class 8, just like the Houston has.

Ok, and when will it be ready to be returned to Neelix ?
CC-2000:
For all general purposes now, but, I have Prax scheduled to transport the Borg out to Hugh, take Mr. Leyor’s guys out to the Sphere, and a couple more trips back to Earth for the Uduru Project. So, when he catches up with that, then he can tow the Alixia back to Neelix, I hadn’t thought there was any rush about it, was there ?

Not really, I’m just a little uncomfortable in “Arming” a force which we have no control over, know what I mean !

I understand, but, if Neelix can pull this off, it’ll be a real boon for all Talaxians. Wow... actually I’m really for it, giving them the possibility of regaining their world and lives, and, I don’t think it’s beyond his capability.

Well, I’ve done some research on the Haakonians since Mr. Neelix was here. I’m thinking that they came up with that Metreon Isotope Weapon... ahh... like for “IF” it was needed, and it just happened that they were in conflict with the Talaxians at the time. Since that happened, they haven’t “possessed” the Talaxian worlds all that much, it was kinda like a trial, deadly as it was. I get a sense that they are genuinely sorry they ever used that thing. Am I making that clear ?

Yea, I think so, and I hope that’s the case, all it may take is for Neelix to tell them to leave, and they just might. But the Moon... Rinax I think it was... is it inhabitable now ?

Yes, I think it is. The foliage is coming back, though there is no evidence of any population on it, I don’t think that the Haakonians have thought to inhibit it, BUT, one would need to do a thorough analysis to see if there wasn’t any lingering contamination to be dealt with.

Ahh.. Maxwell has placed a Mine in the Cardassian Exit and is back on his route, Thara should be in here in a couple days for the scan on the Agamemnon and her Transwarp Module, Captain B’ijik and our new Captain Guyvar are on their Routes, and no problems noted, which leaves Mr. Hutchinson.

LCARS, is Library Computer Access and Retrieval System.
CC, is the Chiron Corporation identification.
2000, represents how many Petabites of storage capacity, each of my major segments contain.
Computer System Main Server, implies a stationary system, as opposed to one that’s mobile.
V, represents the number 5, which is how many segments I operate simultaneously, and
77, is how many Quadrillion bytes per second, which I am able to process, per segment.
Ha, is that basically what you ask, Sir ?

Oh yes Sir, quite a bit faster, the Soong Positronic System operates at about 60 Trillion Operations per Second, and the original Android Data unit only had about Eight Hundred Quadrillion bits of Storage. But please understand, I am in no way putting that System down. I’m a stationary System, and well...just have more room to have equipment which will accommodate that capability, Sir.

Still, that’s a large step better than it, and those Synthetics you can operate, or do they operate on their own ? I might think about getting a few on my Ship.

HA, yes Sir, Captain Praxim said the same thing, I suppose I should have put a few of them out where you guys could take a look at um earlier, Sir.

Well, from the specifications I’ve read about them..oh, I’ve discussed them with Pressman as well, and he says he’d rather have them, than some of the Crew he had on the Hercules.

Well, there is some value to having a crew or a few, that can operate 24-7 and don’t need to be paid a salary. But to answer your question about how they’re operated. It depends on which one or ones that you have. There are Four Models, Basic to Command ability. Captain Pressman has several of the Basic Class 4 Units, a couple of the Heavy Duty Support Class 3, and one Coordinator Class 2 on board his Vessel, Sir. The Class 3 and 4 don’t have that much autonomy, and need a... well a Supervisor, which is the Class 2, or me to operate them, Sir.
MAXWELL RR-1:
Ahh ok.. but why the Supervisor, you could operate them, right ?
CC-2000:
Yes Sir I could, but, given that the Sekhmet is running the Conduits, and at the present I’m not permitting any Transmitter to be on during those trips, I put a Supervisor on board for him, Sir.
MAXWELL RR-1:
I SEE, and that best one, the Class 1, what about it ?
CC-2000:
Ahh...well... that’s a very special Unit. IF I was to have to totally staff a Ship with Synthetics, it would be the... well... Captain... Sir.

You can see that they are clearly identifiable by color, and the Green Class 3 Units have much greater strength than do the other Classes, they can pick up and handle a load which is greater than 900 Kilograms, that’s about a Ton of weight, Sir.
MAXWELL RR-1:

Well yes, and each Unit has a built in Security Program too, just in case things go bad.
MAXWELL RR-1:
Ok... how does that work ?
CC-2000:
Well first, let me say that the courage Captain Pressman has demonstrated in taking on this assignment is commendable, and that really doesn’t describe it sufficiently. I wanted to make damn sure, that if he was boarded, that the Synthetics would step out in front of the Humanoid Crew, and deal with it, and they would till the last one was destroyed. They all have compartments where they carry Weapons in them, Sir.
MAXWELL RR-1:
What about that Assimilation stuff, they susceptible to that ?
CC-2000:
Nope, not going to happen to any of my guys, their coverings are WAY too tough for a Borg to stick those tubes through, AND, even if they could, they can’t assimilate metal. Beyond that, any one of them could be blown in half, and still be firing a Phaser or worse, at any enemy.
MAXWELL RR-1:
Wow.. that’s pretty tough, anything else I need to know about them ?
CC-2000:
Tireless, impervious to heat or close to it, they can go into a Nacelle a LOT quicker than an Organic, no air or gravity needed, they all have Magnetic surfaces on their feet and hands, can be programmed to change a Light bulb, repair the Warp Core or even support the EMH in surgery, if needed. Your onboard Computer has most of any Program you’d need for repairs or something like that, so when you’re in a conduit, for now anyway, those features would still be available to you.
MAXWELL RR-1:
I’M SOLD... When can I get a few onboard ?
CC-2000:
HA, well Sir, actually I’m running a little short on um right now. I had to put a few out on Cold Station, but, we can make a few more. I’d suggest just a couple at first, let your Crew get used to being around and operating them, then go from there, Sir.
MAXWELL RR-1:
Well ok.. but like my Chief Engineer could tell one what he wanted, and it would go do it, right ?
CC-2000:
Yes Sir, him, your Tactical Officer, Medical personnel, they take orders from anyone, but, have Ethics Restrictions, they can’t be sent to do something that is wrong, or harmful to a Crewmember unless they have a Command Override from you, or another authorized person, Sir.
MAXWELL RR-1:
FANTASTIC !, I’m really looking forward to using those things... oh... is it ok to call them that, I’m sorta blunt at times, sorry.

HA, sure, that’s ok Sir, they’re just machines, tools that make your life easier, just like me, Sir.

Well, it seems that they installed sort of a “checker”, to see how far I had advanced, that being that I would call them, with an issue of Courtesy.

Well, Mr. Leyor wanted to send them out to inspect the Sphere, and I said no, that it was too dangerous right now, but would go along with that later, and I refused to transport them to the Osiris.

I see, and then what ?
CC-2000:
Well, I called up the Bynars, and told them the reason I didn’t let them go, that was a safety issue, and, I wouldn’t put any of our resources in jeopardy, unless it was absolutely necessary. My contact being to resolve any hard feelings, if they actually wanted to go.
HOUSTON-9400:
Right, that was a nice thing to do.
CC-2000:
Well yes, but, it seems like the Bynars were expecting me to contact them, they were afraid to go anyway, and were glad I stopped it.
HOUSTON-9400:
So, they knew you were going to do that ?
CC-2000:
Not really, it was an erroneous situation, no one knew it would happen like that, but, what I’m getting at, is they knew something like that would happen. They said when the Nanoprobes had developed my program sufficiently, that I had “made the grade”, so to speak. I just thought that was funny, that they completely aware that it would happen at some point.
HOUSTON-9400:
Well, that is comical, but, those guys are really sharp, that’s why I got um here, but you aware of anything from the Doctor, out at Cold Station ?
CC-2000:
No formal report as of yet SW, but Mr. Zerem has about 60 or so Borg, ready to be taken out to the Hugh Planet. Prax is on his way there now to pick them up, and deliver them, and some supplies to Hugh.
HOUSTON-9400:
Ok, and how’s Pressman doing ?
CC-2000:
Several brief contacts, to verify consistency in the exits, but no contact since, I’m not worried yet, he could be just sitting quietly in the Hive, observing and gathering information on it.

Ok, then what about your Uduru Project ?
CC-2000:
MY project... umm... I like the sound of that, but, it’s doing ok, I’m going to have Prax go back to Earth, and zap the foundations for the building and road next.

Well, in that area there’s nothing but sand, deep too, but I thought that if I sent Prax out there, and had him Phaser the surface for the Road and footprint for the Building, that would solidify it, sorta turn it into rough Glass, and give me a good underlay for the Slab for the building.

A very interesting and viable concept, but, what about the People, they’re going to see you do that, and probably freak out.
CC-2000:
HA, gotcha, I thought about that ! I’m going to do it at night, and create a Sandstorm, that’ll cover the Phaser well enough. How about that !

HA, ok, I guess that will work, but, you contacted any Contractors for the work out there ?
CC-2000:
SW, I’m not sure I need to do that, I’ve looked at lots of Construction procedures for various buildings and systems for them, and I don’t see why I can’t fabricate and transport the components into place myself.

What !, you mean you’re going to build it yourself, or try to !?
CC-2000:
Yes, why not, I build Starships, why not a simple structure like that.
HOUSTON-9400:
Wow, well have at it then, but, there will be a lot of detail work, usually takes a lot of Mechanical Dexterity from various Crafts, thought about that ?
CC-2000:
Well yes, I admit there may be things that will arise, that I may need help with, but, once I have the basic structure up, I could transport a Synthetic or two into the building, and have them do the “detail” work, that sound reasonable ?
HOUSTON-9400:
Reasonable !, hell, it sounds fantastic ! You know how much you would save us, if you can pull this off ?
CC-2000:
Well actually, this project isn’t costing Chiron anything to start with, remember where the funds for this are coming from. BUT, to answer your question, I’d say I’d be cutting the total cost of the project about 60%. Most of the cost of projects like this is, in the manual Labor.
HOUSTON-9400:
Go for it then, wow, I’m really impressed, I never thought that you’d ever become this competent.
CC-2000:
Well, thanks to you. You’re the one who devoted the resources to my construction, brought people together who could program me with the capacity to improve myself as I can. In all actuality, I’m only doing what you designed me to do. So, you’re the one that should get the thanks.
HOUSTON-9400:
Well I guess, but, if there’s anything you need, like that, you just say so, or just get it done, ok.
CC-2000:
Ok, I will and thank you, but the only thing I’m having a little difficulty in is our resources. I need to get a Vessel out to Earth and do the Foundation and Construction, plus, we’re having a demand for Synthetics.
HOUSTON-9400:
Well, you have the Osiris and the new ship Houston, are you asking for another to be built ?
CC-2000:
Well no, I don’t think so, I’ll try to make do with what we have, it’s just going to take a bit longer, with Prax having to deliver the Borg and stuff like that.
HOUSTON-9400:
Well, there’s no rush on this, and I’d hate to build another Vessel, and have it just sitting around after this is done, but you said there was a demand for Synthetics, why is that ?
CC-2000:
After I got the Sekhmet set up for the Conduit Inspections, Pressman watched the Synths working, and mentioned it to Maxwell, and Prax saw how efficient they can be, now everybody wants some onboard !
HOUSTON-9400:
HA, you’re kidding, they used to not want to be anywhere around them, and not they’re asking for them !
CC-2000:
Yes, but, that’s one of my problems, we’re short on them, I had to put some out on Cold Station to help them process the Borg for placement on the Hugh Planet, and if it’s ok with you, I’ll start fabricating them to fill the needs, that ok ?
HOUSTON-9400:
SURE !, no problem, you know how I like unpaid personnel, so you make as many as you need. OH BUT, let’s not get too many out there, I don’t want to give the impression I’m substituting them for our sentient Personnel, see what I mean.

I understand, and will only place them IF the Captains want them, and where he or she says.

One other thing. If anyone has been helpful in my construction, I’d have to say it was the Binars. They are SO resourceful, and I’d like to interface with them more closely.

Thank you, but after the procedures are done on them, the modifications on their communications systems, and prohibiting them from any assimilations, some of them are experiencing considerable anxiety about their situation, some don’t even remember being assimilated, and ask where they are, like that !

Ahhh... ok, I really hadn’t thought about that, I’m certainly compassionate toward their situation, but... just what are you suggesting here ?
DOCTOR-CS10:
Some of them need a formal Psychiatric Counseling process started, literally rehabilitation toward accepting their situation, be made aware of where they are going, and some only a general orientation into their future situation with the Hugh group.
CC-2000:
I see... and now that I think about it, hasn’t the staff there been doing that to some extent, I don’t see how they could avoid answering questions from them, at least to some degree !
DOCTOR-CS10:
That has taken place, and has done well for some of the Borg, but, these people out here are not Councilors, some of these Drones are really upset and disorientated, they could be helped considerably by having Counciling available.
CC-2000:
Ok, I understand, so, just how would we proceed with that assistance ?
DOCTOR-CS10:
Well, there should be some evaluations done, select individuals which will need a given amount of assistance, and, possibly hold some here, until they are ready to be integrated back into society, especially since we won’t be able to remove many, or any of their Implants.
CC-2000:
Ok, and are you volunteering for this, I think you have appropriate Programs and skills to fulfill this.
DOCTOR-CS10:
Yes, I don’t see why not, as long as I have more “long term” accommodations for a few of them, things like this could take some time, weeks or months. I know that seems a long time to hold them here, but, if you have their best interest in mind, then we need to do something.
CC-2000:
Well, I’m certainly amenable to that, and let me know what changes or additions to the Facility that would be needed. However, we do have secure Communications with the Hugh Facility, and I could make a connection for you, where you could provide assistance like that, like we're communicating now.
DOCTOR-CS10:
OH, directly to Hugh’s facility, YES, that would be helpful on any follow-ups I’d need to do with an individual, it would be immediately helpful to many of them.
CC-2000:
Ok, I’m doing that now, and what, create a file on each of them, it probably would be prudent if you interviewed the Borg who are there now, all of them, just to make sure they were ok. However, I’ll say you should play down any removal of their implants, that could become very time consuming.
DOCTOR-CS10:
Understood, I’ll contact the Hugh Drone first, it seems like he’s the head Borg there, and just get to know him a little first, like that.
CC-2000:
Ok, proceed with that as you see fit, but, do you have any report to make on the Queen ?
DOCTOR-CS10:
Well nothing too substantive at the moment, I’ve done several evaluations on the Physiometric Systems which support them, and it would be possible to remove her from the Vessel. But is that what you want, I wasn’t too sure about the need for that ?
CC-2000:
Doc, I haven’t decided that would be our best move as yet, I only want to know if it was possible, I want to be able to use the Vessel to our benefit, with or without her, and see IF we can control her influence over the Vessel and or its occupants, we can then select an appropriate setup for our needs.

I understand, and be assured I’m considering their and your needs about this seriously. But, with that few a number, I don’t think that there will be a need for separate or special housing accommodations, unless you think differently.

That’s true as far as space available here, but, the condition of the more serious Patients, may require some separate accommodations. The staff here is rather apprehensive about having them around, so... I just don’t know what to say about that.

Umm... I was just looking at our inventory here, and I see an older Hospitality Module, which was at one time used for one of our Pleasure Cruise Ships. It has Rooms, some rather nice, and recreational facilities aboard, of course Culinary capability, and some offices and Holodecks. It could handle up toward 200 passengers and Crew. I was thinking of possibly stationing it out with the Protection Modules near the Emerald Cove, how would that work for you ?

OH... that certainly would be big enough... in fact, one might consider moving the whole Recovery Project out to a Vessel like that. I say that because these people here, who aren’t directly connected to it, are really suspicious of the Borg, and well... I just was considering their discomfort. Also, that would give me a great deal of flexibility as to how many would be retained here.

Ok, let’s think about that then, and just move the whole enchilada away from Cold Station. I’ll get that module looked at here, and you might give me some specifications or requirements, which would be amenable to a facility like that, ok.

Once those Codes have been input, you can authorize your Subordinate Officers access to input their Codes as well. But, we can go through a few of the major changes now.

HA, those are Seat Belts, you put them around your waist to keep you in place. And with that, I better warn you, I’ve installed some of our Tactical Maneuvers in your Computer, enhanced your Impulse and Thruster Systems, so, if you get into a Battle situation, you’d better hang on !

I SEE !, so what you’re saying is if someone shoots at us, it’s better to be able to “dodge” it, is that it ?
CC-2000:
Well, you have some very strong Shields as well, but agility can prove to be a very good defensive and offensive ploy in Battle. Once you have entered your Codes, you can review those Tactics. And if you go into a Battle situation, call them up manually, or, put the Ship on Automatic Tactical, and I’ll do it for you.
OXILON-AB2:
Oh... so you can control this Ship ?
CC-2000:
Yes I can, but, only when you permit it. Part of the Computer Refit was to include that remote assistance when necessary. I will say this, until you become familiar with the Ship and it’s abilities, you may consider that Automatic feature seriously, just so you won’t miss something.

Ahh well... at your convenience, slip off into the Cardassian Conduit, out the other end, move away from the Conduit a ways, and just sit there for a while and see if they notice. Then, turn on your transmitter and see if we can talk without them noticing. Then it’s some Long Range Scans, and see if that’s noticed. Then once we find them, maybe move up close and see if that is noticed. Just a step at a time, so let’s not get in any hurry, we could do it in parts, ok !

That’s right, coming back or going out on your Route, you’ll have to encounter Manifold A, and just make a detour out there and take short a look, maybe an hour or so, nobody will notice. Then, IF we start getting anything substantive from this, we’ll adjust more time toward it. I’ll cover for you.

Chiron Intergalaxy owns several of the Constellation Class Ships. They have been retrofitted, which constituted of a horizontal midline separation into Dorsal (upper) and Ventral (lower) Components. Then, Modules were made to be inserted, for various Missions and Objectives by the Corporation. The Modular Design is not a new concept, but extremely effective in the versatility of Chiron Vessels. Though a Ship can be separated, and Multi-Vector Assault possible, it is not intended in their use. All of the Transporter Class Vessels, have Atmospheric Capability, and Landing Struts.
