Charlie Jade

Yeah this show is well Different. It does get confusing at times and i still think the season ran way to long. But reallly wish for a season 2. Lets hope the ratings are real good and we might get our wish.

I can't imagine that the Canadian/South African producers would start up the show again after all these years, unless SciFi wants to jump in on the funding.

That was the original problem. The producers lost their funding, and couldn't get new funding. They were ready to do a season 2, and had created several scrips for a new season. If Sci-Fi wanted to fund a new season, I think it would work if they got Charlie, Karl and 01 Boxer back. All the other characters are expendable.

Well, I'd like Essa Rompkin back, but I have to agree she's expendable. Her arc is essentially over and you'd probably need a rather big excuse to make her somehow relevant again (the use of her image in the finale being a rather admittedly weak way to keep her at the end of the show). And I love Julius Galt; but I guess his time's up to with that hunter on his tail... so yeah, Charlie, Karl, and 01. Naturally, one hopes they'd add some new regulars into the mix, maybe someone representing the Men in Grey Suits. :) This is all highly improbable at best, but I'd like a second season to belatedly occur.

agreed. (spoiler alert just in case:)

Charlie, Karl and 01 were the heart of the show but Rompkin was a good corporate villain character what made the show interesting was that Charlie was obviously our (slightly flawed) hero, Essa was obviously a villain and 01...well, we're never quite sure what he is exactly.
I think Essa's return might work if she is somehow appropriated or co-opted by the Men in Grey Suits. The other characters i suppose i could live without...

IMO Blues seemed like a tacked on remedy for the perceived flaws with the Jasmine character as a romantic interest. Jasmine was poorly handled Sew Sew was an ok character but once his thing for jasmine took center stage I think he seemed a bit off. I think Galt would be a good character to develop further and I'd actually like to see the return of Charlie's childhood friend - actually she seemed like a better potential romantic interest than either Jasmine or Blues. They could make her be of some interest to the MiGS and tie it in to her disappearance.

Does anyone want to pour water on me in the hopes that I can shift to the verse where Charlie Jade got 7 seasons? ;)

My impression is that Gemma Gitano (the childhood friend) is probably dead; I thought that was the point of why her sacrifice was so poignant (and why the issue is never brought up again). But that may just be me. Must agree on Blues feeling tacked on. And while I'd like to see more exploration of the people behind Reena both in Gammaverse (assuming there were any, beyond that guy in the pilot) and those who screwed with her head in Betaverse; I don't think we essentially need her. As for Sew Sew, I didn't think there was a lot to his character before the Jasmine romance arc really got underway. I liked him and I liked the way that arc ended up - the way Jasmine and Charlie became distant over time is much like how he became detached from the world he once called home. But IMHO I don't think we need further from either character.
I think another area they could explore if the impossible future seasons materialise is Gammaverse itself; barely featured in the first season, not to mention what happens to the three universes now that stable transport between all three is possible. Mass emigration from Alphaverse? Seems probable given the dangers of 'Beta Fever'. And yes, I think there's a lot they could do with Julius Galt. I loved his final confrontation with Karl. Would a hardened corporate scumbag like Galt ever gain a conscience, even this late in life? Probably not, but he's fun to watch. :)

Don't we all. ;)

It's just Region 2. There are no Region 1 DVDs available that I am aware of.
You'd have to go out of your way to find a DVD player that doesn't have a region free handset hack on it these days.

I've a feeling it will see a DVD release in the US soon

Here's what they said about it getting a US broadcast
http://www.screenafrica.com/news/television/635045.htm
They can now see what the rest of the world has been raving about’! The deal was concluded by Thomas Vitale at Sci Fi Channel, Jim Howell at Park Entertainment and Seth Kittay at All Channel Films.

I'm 100% certain Skiffy is picking it up because it's a cheap way to fill airtime. If they want to fund a show, they should go for Jericho - 6 million viewers already lined up and ready to go. A much better prospect than a show with effectively zero following among Skiffy's audience.

Hi gyus !
I'm new on this form.
Like propably everyone knows, Charlie Jade was ended after only one season, because producers didn't have enough money to make a second season and they wait with it until picking up by US broadcaster (so until now).
Scifi picks it up, so I mailed Chris Roland and asked him, if something change.
He said that "There is no indication at this time whether we will go to a second season, but if the series does well on SciFi in the US this will certainly support the possibility of a second season."
I think it's a great news, and there's still a chance for it, but everything it's up to you now.
So, if you want it back, only you have to do is watch.

Well, the DVD's been here for a couple of weeks, but I've only just got round to watching it. I'm up to episode three, while I wouldn't say I'm engrossed, it certainly is an interesting show.

Just to say that, should a second season result from success in the US, well, I wish Charlie Jade all the best - which I do anyway. A second season would be a great thing to have. :)

Keep us posted. ;)

Have you heard of Charlie Jade? Unless you live in Canada or South Africa, the answer is probably “no.”
Come now, give us non-Canadian/South African Charlie Jade fans some credit. The series did air here, albeit only recently. But I'll agree it's not as well known as it should be, including here, and for my part I've probably irritated as many people in the real world as I have aggravated on the internet with my love of this show.

Some interesting material in there, to be sure. Filipowich's nomination for 01 Boxer was well earned. McKenzie is a bit surprising, if only because I personally was most impressed by Burgers as Essa Rompkin.

EP/01 The Big Bang

Detective Charlie Jade is on hunt for 01 Boxer,
the suspected killer of a mysterious woman with no
identity, and the son of Brion Boxer, the founder of Vexcor
- the largest and greediest multinational corporation in Alphaverse.
The trail leads Charlie straight to Vexcor's facility, secreted away in the desert wasteland.
As he surveys the ominous scene, terrorists Reena and her lover, Bern, plant a bomb at the base
of an identical facility in their utopia world of Gammaverse. In a massive explosion that vaporizes the entire operation,
Charlie and Reena are propelled out of their own worlds - and into a third parallel universe known as Betaverse.

EP/02 Sand

Caught in an hallucinogenic state after an explosion proples Charlie into a parallel
universe, he dreams he's back home in Cape City with his girlfriend,
Jasmine. He's quickly snapped out of his erotic reverie by Jodie, a young
evacuee of the desert calamity, and suddenly finds himself in a world that
seems oddly off kilter. At a makeshift refugee camp, Charlie meets Karl Lubinsky,
an investigative journalist who doesn't buy into Vexcor's slick spin doctoring of
the circumstances surrounding the explosion. Lubinsky vows to uncover the
truth about catastrophe - and about Vexcor's elusive business - and drags a
reluctant Charlie along for the ride.

I hope it's not too long before Sci-Fi replays the pilot, as I missed it. Should I even bother watching tonight's episode, or would I not understand what's going on?

I missed the pilot and watched the second episode and was quite confused by watching the second episode myself.
