As I said, the point isn't the cat. The point is that quantum states are indeterminate until they're observed. The cat is just a thought experiment.
Yeah, but it does illustrate the idea very well, so it's probably the best way to describe it.IIRC Shroedinger's Cat was devised by the man himself (sorry about the spelling, I want to get this story from memory without googling) to show just how absurd the idea of observation affecting the result of an experiment seemed to him.
Missed the first 5 minutes of tonights episode, but what I saw was pretty good. Although, I don't think it was as good as last weeks. That might have been partly due to the return of Tim Key, though.
I really don't get how his stuff is supposed to work. I mean, is it supposed to be a parody of arty, pretentious poetry types? Is he playing a sort of David Brent-ish character who thinks he's a great poet, when actually he's really shit? Is the stuff he does supposed to be some kind of obscure comedy metaphor for current events? I just honestly can't see what level his stuff it supposed to work on.
Amazingly, Brooker manages to hit the nail on the head regarding current issues than any of the current news programs, especially on the whole Jade Goody debacle.
I hope Tim Key doesn't come into Newswipe. I found his sections boring, tedious and entirely pointless, to the extent where I used the power of DVR to pause him and then fast-forward through his crappy little section. Quite why Key is on there I have no idea.
