Charlie Brooker's News Wipe

I like TV Burp, but it is not Screenwipe they are two differnt shows, my point is I think that Charlies C4 show will be more like TV Burp than screenwipe, and Harry Hill should do TV Burp & Charlie should do Screenwipe.

You have no frame of reference to say that though. All we know is he'll be focusing on TV from around the world (which sounds like Tarrant on TV if we're going to compare shows) and have celebs on talking about shows (which sounds like TV Heaven, Telly Hell). But I'd expect it to be different to either of those. Isn't TV Burp more of a sketch show with Harry Hill blabbering on about shows between the sketches?

hadnt heard about the celebrity bit, that sounds awful, yes this C4 show could well be Charlies "jump the shark"

Quite enjoyed Newswipe. As ever the Charlie Brooker segments are the best, rather than the other contributors, but not bad all round.

And Harry Hill's TV Burp is genius. I won't hear a word against it! ;)

I've seen bits of TV Burp and it has a few mild laughs, but I can never a watch a full episode as all it ever is is fucking Coronation Street or The Bill. Or some other ITV shit fest.
Oh and maybe some clips from Holby City and Casualty. Wow, cutting edge stuff Harry. All those shows are laughably bad enough as they are, you really don't even need to parody them.

And, Quantitative Easing=

^ it is true he features ITV shows more than he used to, and im pretty sure he inculded Dancing on Ice on ITVs say so.

Does he use ITV more because...
1.There more shit shows on there.
2. The BBC will not give him the clips.
3.ITV clips are cheaper.

After seeing some youtube videos pulled and others aloud to stay i am not sure how copyright works theses days.

I think short clip is something around 30 seconds, and has to be for the purposes of review, analysis or parody. So sticking a 2 minute clip up on youtube is outside of fair usage.

TV Burp doesn't really reach its genius peak until The Apprentice gets going again for a new series.

Speaking of which... :D

Finally got a chance to watch this. I thought it was great, with Brooker as on the ball as ever. Loved the use of "The Gonk" throughout the programme too.

I still think Tim Key's "comedy" poetry is crap, though.

So I'm not the only one? It seems more childish than anything.

I hope he doesn't make regular appearances on Newswipe. I'd much rather see a David Firth animation, or see Doug Stanhope back for a good rant about the media.

Firth's stuff is great. And insane. Well, he is from Doncaster....

:D

(PS does anyone actually now understand quantitative easing?)

Its quite easy.

The government claims to have more money, uses it to buy back government bonds, those who bought the bonds in the first place (banks) now have "money" in their bank, which they will use to ease the process of getting a loan from said bank.

In other words :vulcan:
