Charles 'Trip' Tucker and Lee Kelso

Both look similar, and both work--or 'worked,' depending on your viewpoint--in the engineering area...;)

Would you be for or against having these two somehow related?

Small universe syndrome, small universe syndrome!

Wasn't Kelso supposed to have lived in an orphanage as a child? He could be Charles Tucker [whichever generation would exist in TOS] and not even know it...

Cause of death both involved a power cable. Kelso's demise was far better since we didn't see it coming and because the perp was his friend. It had shock value which added to the climax of the story... instead of leaving me slack jawed at the stupidity of such a pointless sacrifice.

So what? I love it when the novels make those kind of connections, and wish the shows had more often than they did. And, I could see it. I had the same thought about Tucker and Kelso back when ENTERPRISE first aired.

What do you mean? Charles Tucker didn't die like that. You can't believe everything you see on the holodeck.

Kelso was a more interesting character and played by a better actor.

Also, it helps that he didn't have an embarrassing accent.

I couldn't help wondering if Berman & Co. deliberately made a character like Tucker to look like Kelso (or Tyler from "The Cage", for that matter) as a calculated attempt to use casting to capture some of pre-TOS "style" in ENT. You know, like having a Vulcan science officer on the ship. That kind of thing.

Ouch....!

Berman and Co. seemed to want to get away from TOS (those elements from the classic series seemed to crop up when 'new blood' came into the picture), so I couldn't give them that much credit...

I do agree with Joel though, the two characters do look similar...

Huh. One of the rare times I don't attempt humor, and somebody laughs. Go figure.

Thanks though.:bolian:
