Chakotay's scientific pursuits

Anyone else ever noticed how Chakotay always seemed to have a new scientific interest week by week? For example, one week it would be anthropology (or at least his take on it which involved making half-baked theories rather than thorough investigations), and the next week it would be palaeontology (which might have catered to his needs better because that is more based on spurious conjecture than anthropology), and then the next week it would be geology, almost as if the writers on the series would just decide by casting dice that week.

His rather fickle approach to scientific interests sort of reminds me of these sketches on a 90s British comedy series called The Fast Show in which a man called Jesse came out of a barn and would talk about what he would be eating that week or what he would be wearing that season:

One can almost imagine Chakotay having his own sketch show like this (there was Ferengi Comedy Hour after all), in which he comes out of the turbolift doors, and exclaims: "This week, I will mostly be studying botany!", and then the next week will say "This week I will mostly be studying vulcanology!" etc.

I'll let others address the Chakotay issue, 'cause I wasn't really ever paying that much attention to him. But, I must know! Ferengi Comedy Hour? Do you have a link for that?

^Sadly, no. I only know of it from general hear-say, that is to say from sites such as Wikipedia or Memory Alpha concerning the biographies of some of the key Ferengi actors (Armin Shimmerman, Max Grodenchik, Aron Eisenberg, Cecily Adams etc.).
