McQuarrie also worked on Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home through ILM, doing conceptual drawings and designs for 23rd century San Francisco, Starfleet Headquarters, shuttlecrafts, whale tanks, and storyboard concepts for the surreal time travel sequence.
