News CBSAA -> Paramount+

How many are even subscribing because of Star Trek?

Apparently enough to sustain the simultaneous production of Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks, Strange New Worlds, and the yet-untitled Michelle Yeoh spin-off.

In other news: I can't believe I predicted this on December 6th, 2017.
Before you know it, they'll have four different Star Trek series to pad out all 52 weeks. Unless they can come up with something else to keep everyone on board all year.

They'll decentralize Star Trek on CBSAA and turn it into a genre or a brand line, just like Marvel with Netflix. So that anthology Bryan Fuller wanted? It might happen after all, just in the form of different series instead of the same series.

Of course, one day I might end up laughing at myself for even speculating this.

Then in June 2018, six months later, look at what was announced and the corresponding "fun" that went along with it in a TrekBBS thread.

The other day I noticed "The Cage" is missing on All Access. I know it wasn't originally aired when Star Trek premiered, but that seems a strange thing to be missing nowadays, especially considering there's a Discovery episode and a new series that are direct sequels to it. Maybe they can catch it on the rebound when All Access becomes Paramount+.

Are you sure it's missing? It's usually listed at the end of season three in the DVD and Blu-ray releases.

I'm not sure if it's ever been there, to be honest. I don't remember ever seeing it.

And yeah, Netflix is the only place you can stream it, no one else offers it. And you can't buy it digitally anywhere either, no one sells it. And I know, I've looked, because I want to own it.
(And while Netflix is an option I don't regularly subscribe to it; I haven't had Netflix since last December when I re-subscribed for Lost in Space and binged season 2 and then let it end.)

Adding it with Strange New Worlds would make a lot of sense though, agreed all around on that.

Also, I guess it's safe to assume that Paramount+ will bring all of the movies under one roof instead of having them spread out everywhere; pending whatever deals they currently have in place...

Netflix does have it, but Hulu doesn't. This is weird.

And it's the original version, not the remastered version. Strangely, "Obsession" on Netflix is also the original version, where as every other episode is remastered. Amazon also gives away the original version of "The Cage" for free, although its listed as a Bonus on Star Trek Season 1 HD.

Thats weird, on my DVD Box its the first episode on Season 1 Disc 1

That is weird. I own both the clamsell season DVD's and the original Blu-ray releases, on both "The Cage" is on the last disc of season three. Maybe a difference in the US/European releases? Do you have the combo season one HD-DVD/DVD release?

I Got StarTrek: The Original Series Remastered, bought it on german amazon about 2 years ago, all are HD DVDs if i recall correctly.
Also i just looked for it but the version i have isnt listed on amazon anymore, now they sell a white design boxed version, and in the description it says that "the cage" is included "in both versions"? I only know of one version on my DVD set.

Only the first season is on HD-DVD. The other two seasons were on standard DVD (though they have the same oversized cases using clear plastic. This was prior to the 2009/2010 Blu-ray release. Could you be mistaking "The Cage" for "The Menagerie" two-parter?
