CBS/Viacom set to reunite? Effect on Star Trek

They've been separated over a decade now bu reports suggest CBS and Viacom are set to become one again.

Obviously things will never be as they were in the 90s but I think this may be good for the franchise.

During the TNG/DS9/VOY era, movie Trek and TV Trek were pretty much the same flavour. Right now, the movies are different to the current series. Thats how I prefer it.

They never should have split up in the first place, but they were occasionally working at cross-purposes at the time and Sumner Redstone thought it was better for them to work separately instead of telling them to quit it and get their act together. Ever since their separation, Viacom and CBS have been trying to recreate what they've lost in their divorce with little success.

But now times have changed. We're in the era of Disney and other superdupermega corporations. If they want a seat at the big folk's table, Viacom and CBS really do need to get back together, IMO.

This is great news for star trek! The reason the 50th anniversary hit with such a thud is because of this separation.

Yeah, Discovery should have been released in 2016. Viacom/CBS should have promoted STB and DIS simultaneously to celebrate 50 years of Trek.
