Off-topic, but a Facebook friend of mine saw Weird Al in concert last night in Indianapolis. Apparently, he did an amazing cover of "Rebel Yell" complete with Billy Idol snarl.
More donor patches are about to be shipped from a 2015 Indiegogo campaign. Obviously no "two-day" delivery with Axanar.

Seemingly there is a "Fleets of Axanar" community in Star Trek: Online:

Dare I say that it sounds like everyone involved is at least making an effort to be reasonable? Really, the title and using clips from a real show would be a red flag any time. Those should be fixable. It will be interesting to see if CBS tries to hold firm on the 30 minute/2 episode time limit.Over at AxaMonitor: CBS Moves Against New Fan Film Over Guidelines. Unsurprising. Given everything that's transpired he should have known not to use that title or images and voices of the actors. That was just dumb.Over at AxaMonitor: CBS Moves Against New Fan Film Over Guidelines. Star Trek: Temporal Anomaly, Produced by Trekyards' Samuel Cockings, Delays Release Pending CBS Concerns. Unless Tarantino is writing Technobabble: The Movie I doubt it.Here's hoping it's being stopped because of the similarity to QT's new Trek movie idea.
exactly. and any notion of 'oh, I thought I was under a grandfather clause' is bullshit, misdirection and spin. You can't call it Star Trek, you can't use footage from real Star Trek, and you've got to keep it to under the time limit. The studio might've been able to ignore the time limit. They might even have ignored calling it Star Trek. But they cannot let you use footage with three actors from TNG. Otherwise I suspect they'd have the Screen Actors Guild raising hell.

There was no Grandfather clause per say - As I recall in all the interviews about it, Van Critters basically said that if a group had a fan film that had completed or was in the very last stages of post production and released min the next few days, they wouldn't be jumping all over said group; but that's not the same as "If you started production prior to the Guidelines being published, you're okay" which is what a lot of groups tried to claim.exactly. and any notion of 'oh, I thought I was under a grandfather clause' is bullshit, misdirection and spin.
I believe the line was drawn on where the current productions were in the process - Continues for example, I believe, was all shot and being edited..And do please define "started production". Can I say that if I jot down a few notes on the back of an envelope with ideas for a script plot, is that "started production"???
CBS itself would have been in trouble using that footage without compensating the actors. You can't call it Star Trek, you can't use footage from real Star Trek, and you've got to keep it to under the time limit. I have a lot of notes pre guidelines, So I'm good right? And do please define "started production". Can I say that if I jot down a few notes on the back of an envelope with ideas for a script plot, is that "started production"???
