So, when is it going to give us a full-length film??

So here's a wacky question, if you will.

Prelude was how many years ago? And they're talking about ordering the patches 'shortly'. Plus we've seen boxes of patches in both the CA and GA locations. And there's also a claim of no money.

Can anyone reconcile these statements? Bueller?
Sure, the previous on hand Patches were 'delivered' (via fan tables) at various Conventions over the years. (If they didn't have an original receipt, I'm sure $5, $10, and $20 Federal notes were accepted in place of an actual receipt/proof of donation). ;)

Coin of the realm, always an appropriate choice for any occasion.

Late to the party as usual, but what in the pulse is that?

Starfleet officers engage in a racist bar brawl while name dropping Enterprise characters, telling each other to shut up and 'ten-hut'ing. Jeez. Then Garth The Amazing comes in and completely changes their opinions by basically saying 'war is hell'.

Axanar has almost come full circle by now:
From an amateurish level of making a fan film to a fully independent professional production (which is Prelude), over the loss of about $1.4 millon back to fully amateurish fan stories (Lane's example) all the way back into nothingness... So what?

The artwork is pretty reasonably well done but, yeah, the dialogue is shit. I'm assuming "Matt" is Matt Decker, since we already have Ron Tracey there in the group from that generation of people? Guess the latter was always a five-star shitstick from the beginning. "Pulse"? Give me a break!

A not-bad, basic article on copyright which mentions you-know-what:
http://www.bigshinyrobot.com/60319/copyright-or-copywrong/
Other copyright holders/owners have come down hard and even been hostile toward fanfilms. In December 2015, Paramount Picture Corporation and CBS, owners of the Star Trek copyright, stated that the fan film Prelude to Axanar copied many of its works including characters, logos, terms and even costumes. After almost a year of back and forth negotiation, a settlement was reached. In the settlement, fan films like Axanar could continue, however, a new set of guidelines for Star Trek fan films were introduced. These included time limits for the films length, restrictions on costumes and props, and of course the fan film has to be strictly non-commercial.

You know, it could have mentioned a few more facts about the case. Or at least got the facts the did mention correct:

"hostile toward fan films" should read "hostile towards a fan film"

"fan films like Axanar could continue"
There are no fan films "like" Axanar. Besides, the Axanar group always claimed they weren't making "just a fan film", no?

Considering the guidelines could have said No, never again Cbs has been anything but hostile to fan films.
I have been curious over the generous $50 grand fund Raiser limit and the limited 15 minutes production run time.
I'm probably just missing something but don't people normally put out the Star Trek name to draw/attract donors?
If Axanar was raising funds to create a really awesome "Space Adventure X" would $1.4 million filled the coffers?

Nope.

And I agree; I wasn't thrilled with the 'hostile' line but at least they got most of the facts right and said the thing that every single one of these article writers should have said in the first place - that the IP holders have the exclusive rights to the IP and that every single film is infringing.

Which, of course, is the point of contention is that "Star Trek" was used to raise the money.

As for being "hostile towards fan films" that made me look sideways at it, but given what fan productions were being done prior to the guidelines, I can see the appearance of "hostility" even though that would not be a term I would use.
