CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

CBS wasted a million dollars in legal fees on this sad debacle? No. It didn't cost a million dollars to make this parasite go away. Even in defeat he thinks he's the biggest loser. Yuuugh!

Good god - what a load of shit that screencap of Alec Peter's post is. The Lawsuit WAS the ultimate 'Cease and Desist' letter. Alec could have made the lawsuit go away by telling CBS/Paramount - "Okay, we'll shutdown, stop fundraising, agree to settlement terms, etc."

Alec Peters was the one celebrating with sushi the first day he heard he was being sued, and was also the one vowing to fight any judgement against him on appeal all the was up to th U.S. Supreme Court -- until he took CBS/Paramount's Settlement Offer (which he seems to now want to act like he didn't Settle.)

Hell, if he's out of money, it's probably because he spent Donor funds FOR the lawsuit, covering court fees, other copying and filing fees; as well as his side's cost (not inconsiderable) for the depositions performed in preparation for Trial (none of which are covered in Pro Bono work, the only thing Alec DIDN'T directly have to pay for in regards to the lawsuit preparation were lawyers billable hours.

The above screencap just shows Alec Peters is more full of shit them usual.
 
If I ever failed a tenth as bad as LFIM, I'd start my next Trek across the nearest desert without water.

Based on Trekzone's previous encounters with LFIM, I think he can handle Alec.

#secondspoileralert - you've also go to move your props and costumes some place. That won't be easy or cheap, either.

#thirdspoileralert - you've got diminishing returns on crowdfunding. That's going to continue. You hit your height. The slide is following the law of gravity, and it will continue to.

#fourthspoileralert - even 'private crowdfunding' won't work forever. Someone on your inner list will get a sick kid (heaven forbid) or a cloud on their real estate title or a car accident or will lose a job or have to take care of a dying elder (it happens to many people) or the like and the first line item in their budget they are going to cut is you.

Having seen part one of Renegades: The Requiem, I keep wondering why Alec didn't do the same thing and scrub the Trek elements from the Axanar script? Considering Axanar only has one legacy Trek actor playing their original character (Gary Graham as Soval) versus Renegades' eight (Chekov, Uhura, Tuvok, Jadzia, Ichab, Nog, Jake and Chakotay analogues, all played by the originals), it seems utterly pointless.

He can still do it, and make his full 90-minute movie. Well, except that he'll never get the funding for it again and he's about to lose the studio he pissed all his original funding away on.

What gets me is that so many of these other fan productions have managed to create so much at just a sliver of a fraction Alec Peters demanded to make Axanar. Hell, let's use Star Trek Continues as an example of just how this could have gone.

STC could have made at least 8 episodes on Axanar's $1,000,000 desired budget. That would have been almost 7 hours of fan produced content at the high quality STC delivers. With that in mind, imagine that same quality, consistency, and budget going into a 90 minute - 2 hour STC style film. They really could have made the best Star Trek fan production ever (assuming the same quality from STC carried over to the people at Axanar). Instead, in the same time that STC could have produced those 8 episodes, Axanar has accomplished so little. What does Axanar have to show for that budget, and years in which to put it all into a film? Half completed sets, new carpets, new phones, a big green screen and a 2 minute blue screened walking teaser, and... nothing else. Alec's bravado, their disastrous lawsuit that rippled throughout the fan community, and nothing else.

All this time, they could have made a film, CBS couldn't have stopped them from making it, but instead they still have nothing. When CBS let it go far easier than I feel they should have, Peters could have started work right away. Instead, we have nothing. Now they're asking for more money. As far as I'm concerned, that puts Alec Peters on the same footing as a televangelist, and a politician. Both demand high sums of money while promising great results, and eventually deliver nothing but more promises to placate the donors, while simultaneously blaming both them and nefarious outside influences for all that goes wrong.
 
Didn't Alec once suggest to an established person in the industry that he and his studio were there to stay? How's that working for him now?
