CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

You know, there isn't a time limit from CBS/P on audio drama. Alec Peters could produce Axanar in an audio format and it'll be really awesome so everyone will be happy!

Was wondering about that myself. Is this someone's opinion/prediction or is this based somewhere on fact?
One person's "fact" is more likely reality's "desperate hope." There's nothing to substantiate this assertion, whatever merit it may have as an argument.

On AxaMonitor — PUBLIC DONATIONS APPEAL REMOVED Amid concerns it’s trying an end run around the lawsuit settlement terms, Axanar removed the donation link on its homepage, as well as language portraying it as a nonprofit. But is it just a cosmetic change? Also gone: Axanar’s online merchandising operation. Read more »

I really hope this was because someone from Loeb & Loeb sent a message/e-mail to Axanar/Alec Peters, telling him it violated the Settlement Terms/Get rid of it or else... Or maybe even Erin Ranahan of W&S actually reigned him in (maybe she isn't as inept as she came across in the Axanar defense filings....) ;)

Who knows we might even see a public comment from Alec Peters where he himself actually admits he violated copyright/went too far in his own statement - beyond the 'Joint' statement released back on January 20th - which it seems the Axanar Faithful™ have been p[pointing to saying Alec Peters himself never really admitted any wrongdoing...that was a CBS/Paramount assumption. (Yeah, right.)

of course it could also be that beyond the 5 - 10 die hards who show up to defend any/every action Alec Peters takes; Mr. peters may be getting more blowback from the people he e-mails asking for a private donation; and the endeavor is turning out as successful as Jonathan Lane's separate Indegogo campaign to get Alec Peters more funds to pay for the Warehouse Studio rent (If you don't recall, I think it got to $5 pledged by Dennis Bailey - just so Mr. bailey could comment something to the effect of: 'Have you no shame/dignity left?" (I'm paraphrasing because said Campaign was taken down within 48 hours of it's going up, so the comments made are no longer available to see.

In the end, I must say I'm curious to see how Alec Peters will re-edit and make use of existing/already filmed footage and previous used (and so far unused ) VFX shots to cobble together the two 15 minute "Axanar" fan film as cheaply as possible. Should be interesting to see any new 'private donor' reactions if/when that turns out to be the end result of Alec Peters 'independent/professional Star trek film..." :barf:

He'd never find the editors to mix it.
He could outsource it, but your right, audio takes a special nuance that money don't always buy.
Yeah, he could, I guess, but riding herd on a full cast, full sfx audio production to make sure it turns out right requires it's own special set of skills, even if you don't try to edit it yourself. (I should know...I've done both). I really doubt that any of the people in the fan production realm who have the skill to do it would touch an AP product with a 10 foot pole. Given AP's alleged tendency to call shots despite an apparent lack of skill, knowledge or talent I can't see a professional house deciding that would probably bring a relatively small return for an awful lot of work and headaches would be worth it.

How is Axanar still raising funds? Well, remembering what Abraham Lincoln said, "You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time," Alec Peters went looking for that second group of people whom he can fool all of the time.

I know a voice actor which wanted to write her own stories, voice it with a few friends. None of their group knew how to mix it, score the music, sound effect or timing. They hired some guy and paid real money, he had a website, production company and everything. Have you ever heard a 7th grade marching band coming down the street?
Believe me, I know what you guys do.

Given the excellent talents Tobias Richter has/displays, the smartest thing for him (LFIM) to do would make this a VFX-heavy production with a few voice overs and some brief character shots here and there. Given that the script amounts to nothing more than junior high fan wank, this should satisfy the Axalytes (as well as leave more money for LFIM and his inner circle to piss away)
