CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

That's the claim, and perhaps there is some reason to believe that - but in light that CBS/P has alleged that documents given to them in the Discovery phase have confirmed that AP and Prime Diana/nuDiana have used donor funds for salaries and personal expenses, I find it hard to believe that the "missing" donor funds from the IndiGoGo campaign and other campaigns that were never referenced in the Financial "Report" went to buying a bunch of patches to stock the Donor Store.
On the contrary, according to Axanar's own annual report, as much as $37,258 was spent creating and shipping rewards from the Kickstarter campaign. An odd thing since Axanar admits not a single Kickstarter reward has yet been shipped. So now you have your Donor Store, which became a big revenue stream for Axanar — something like $200,000 — if you believe the numbers from Axanar's audit that CBS/Paramount published in the latest court filing.

Catching up with the Captain's Log I couldn't help but notice in this one:

After a weekend full of document review and preparation for this Wednesday’s beginning of depositions, we had a brief meeting with a VFX studio that was thinking of using our bridge set for a VR demo. Other than that it was all reading documents!

Regarding the above passage from the linked Captains Log, what Bridge set? The best photo I remember seeing seemed to show only the station behind the Captains chair having some of the panels and displays inserted into the plywood. Can anyone remember whether it was built up further or maybe even completed? I thought it hadn't been.

It can be completed in virtual reality!

3 $5,000 levels spread over 13 people? For different perks i gather?
And 4 people donated $10,000?
P.T. Barnum: "There's a sucker born every minute"...

Does this well-poisoning weasel really believe, he may be able to successfully crowdfund future projects like a "David Gerrold Project"?
Considering how successful Mr. Gerrold's LAST attempt to KS his 'Star Wolf' idea (read: Not very):

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2137726026/david-gerrolds-the-star-wolf

($88,746 pledged out of $650,000 sought = FAILED; and he played his 'Star Trek' connection to the hilt and got supportive statements from Leonard Nimoy and DC Fontana - yeah, I don't think his association with Alec Peters/Axanar will fair much better.)

Damn, that 62-page motion to compel inspired over 11k words for a blog post to go live on Thursday (I may need to edit it a bit, hence the delay).

And did you know there are three declarations from defense which go for another 43 or so pages? Yeah, that'll be another blog post, barely started.

I haz a tired.

Terry Mac is a self-serving individual, but I do believe him when he says that the various software designed for perk fulfillment were insufficient for AP's needs, and I believe him when he said he set out to make it easier and create a proprietary change to the whole system.
I think Ares Digital was a good project, but it ran into the same issue as every other good idea conceived in the service of Axanar - Alec's laziness, parsimony, and obstinacy.

Through work, I've had the opportunity to see the back end of BackerKit. It is more than sufficient to handle fulfillment for a project the scale of Axanar. We're using it for digital and physical fulfillment for a Kickstarter that raised several million dollars from thousands of backers, and it has everything we need to send orders in multiple waves to both a professional fulfillment center and internally, for the fulfillment of unique perks.

Axanar built Ares Digital as a way to make money from other projects, just like the studio.

Well, I stand corrected. Twice. I think I'll sit down.
Every time I think AP and Co. have reached the bottom of the crap well - they dig deeper.

Who would want a patch now, though? You get your patch, you sew it onto a jacket or whatever and then spend the rest of your life explaining to people that ask that it's a patch you paid five times over the value for and it was for a film that never got made. Then you'd have to explain the whole story, referencing JJ Abrams, Nu-Diana and those bastards on Trek BBS and, and

Throw the now-ruined jacket in the bin.

Those patches might make a nice museum exhibit one day, along with screenshots from AxaMonitor and this thread.

AXANAR: The Best Movie Never Made (or Fleecing Fandom, A Life's Work)

IMHO AP likes to overscale things. Maybe he wanted the software to be ready if he suddenly got the idea of creating the worlds biggest online-shop for Trek-merchandise.

Given the gullibility and single-mindedness of a good portion of the Axalytes, I'm cynical enough to think Lord Alec never really intended to ship all of the perks out. To maintain the cashflow, he assembled a selection of knock off merchandise. This got the faithful all whipped up into a frenzy and got em to open their wallets. Then, to maintain the illusion, he shipped out some (whether randomly or what, I don't know) and then concocted these excuses to cover his ass while he went on about doing whatever it was he was doing (as many others have mentioned numerous times - there are much easier ways to ship out perks, from using address labels and stuffing envelopes by hand, all the way up to solutions like BackerKit. Personally, I believe if he was serious, he wouldn't have dicked around trying to come up with 'Ares Digital' - despite wanting to build his own little empire).

Something from 'Terrible Terrence' though............

Given that Axanar is in violation of the official fan film rules, I'm thinking at this point that it's officially over (even if the legal hearing will take time to wrap up).
