If this is accurate, then Mikey boy will be doing a lot of that next week.........

Yeah, I'm sure Trekzone or some other video blogger will be happy to talk to him. I sure there might be a few old local access cable channels (do these still exist) that he can go stumping for this 'movement'. I any major news outlet picks this up, I'll be surprised:

Interviewer: "And how many letters have you sent to CBS and Paramount?"

M. Baldwin: "Fifty..."

Interviewer: (Talking to segment producer over earpiece) - "Yeah, sorry, me too"... (to Cameraman)..."Cut! We're done.""

Perhaps AP is foolish enough to think that he can influence a potential jury pool for the upcoming trial?

If anything comes out during discovery that nakedly shows intent to build a money grab, its all over. I recall the podcast where they claimed to have a 'license agreement' ready to go for Axanar game pieces, even though they didn't have a studio license and even though right in the podcast they identified ships that were pure Trek. The chances that somewhere or other the studio scheme has some smoking gun emails or documents around it I think are very high.

No amount of 'biggest bestest most earnestnest coolest superfan evar' coverage will obscure an intentional money grab.

Perhaps these folks will go for an interview: http://www.haykakantv.com/

Just an FYI: Postcards are now only 34 cents a piece. Just in case someone wanted to "express their support" for the Fan Film guidelines. ;)

On that note, why didn't those yahoos spring for Certified Return Receipt Signature Confirmation. Sure its an extra couple of bucks, but at least they would have Mr. VanCitters' secretary's autograph. :)

It makes me wonder:
Is Mr. Lane a useful idiot being skillfully exploited by AP and Iowa Mike or is he a willing participant in their AstroTurfing campaign?
Willing participant for sure. I don't doubt Jonathan Lane's sincerity. I just think his devotion to Axanar blinds him from concerns about the methodology of the report and its realistic reception by CBS given the very obvious ties to Axanar, which clearly has a vested interest in seeing those guidelines change.

What would be interesting is to have a third-party pollster or researcher look at the poll (which is in the packet) and give his/her thoughts on it, as well as the sample size.

It's weird watching LFIM & Axalytes trying to exude influence with a cult-like bathos. It's so serious to them yet self defeating at an anticlimactic comical level. I've yet to see LFIM or one of his spokesholes or any Axalyte for that matter have a conversation without resorting to rhetoric and fallacies. IMO, when a person like LFIM or one of his followers uses dishonesty as a basis for influencing other people, sincerity and charm become tools of deception.

2. Times have changed. When the Trimbles started their letter writing campaign back in the day, letter writing was one of the key forms of communication. Now, writing a letter is a lost art. To add to that, if they think that CBS or their attorneys watching the Small Access group and not expect them to be coming, they're sorely mistaken. And if they think it will actually be read by anyone less than a secretary? They're sorely mistaken on that point too.
There's another key difference here too. The letter writing campaign to save Star Trek for a third season was all about showing the showrunners that the fans wanted it, would watch it, and would support it for a third year. Directly supporting the bottom line; more viewers = more advertising dollars.
This letter writing campaign is designed to show the popularity of... infringing material which they are claiming in court is competition to their legitimate product. The more letters they receive, the stronger that argument becomes, and the stronger the incentive to slam the door closed on fan films completely.

The great 'letter writing campaign' of way-back-when convinced the Powers that Be that Star Trek was still potentially profitable. The letter writing campaign of today aims to convince the Powers that Be that official Star Trek is so terrible that fan made 60 minute productions starring ex Star Trek cast members with no profit at all for the IP owners are the way forward. I'd say one has a much steeper hill to climb than the other.

Aw, c'mon, don't you know the only way to convince people to do something for you is to insult their hard work?

The Axalytes overestimate the influence they have as well as the influence of Lord Garth and his Elba II minions, like RMB and Mike Baldwin.
