That was pretty funny! We did get a chance to sit down with Gary Graham while at STLV. Axa was not mentioned. Graham has a new venture, anyway. // Thank you for your kind support.
By chance, did he mention Axanar off-mic at all?

Does that mean that GR considered written Star Trek fanfic some sort of uniquely American Graffiti?THX for the reference![]()
Wow! Really? Just Wow.
But before anyone starts screaming about First Amendment rights and all ... does NOT apply to a private venue (i.e., not a government agency) asking people to avoid certain topics. For all we know, there could have been a laundry list of forbidden topics, such as religion and politics, and Star Wars and BSG, etc.
Lord, this is the sort of thing that will get the Reason guys worked up.But before anyone starts screaming about First Amendment rights and all ... does NOT apply to a private venue (i.e., not a government agency) asking people to avoid certain topics. I'm glad STLV made it a point not to talk about the Axanar subject. The less exposure AP gets the better.
Walter Koenig talked a bit about Renegades on his panel (he was asked by the host), though he did specifically say they removed all trek references from the production.
It is just so mind numbingly amazing that AP didn't take the opportunity presented to say "yes, a thousand times yes, we are totally on board with Abrams and Lin and welcome them on our set when we have retooled to be in good relations with the studio". Bring in the best amateur talent knowing they have the endorsement of the directors. Get the fans behind it. Get the suit settled on less than scorched earth terms and on the QT. The opportunity of a lifetime, pissed on. No other way to describe it.
Quoted for emphasis. The stupid runs strong with this one...
Oh, I can think of one other way to describe it: securities fraud. That's basically what we're looking at. This is about a guy who saw a way to raise capital for a new business venture without having to go through any of the normal legal channels. ST fandom and crowd-funding gave him the means to do it. My guess is that he thought he could get the film out and sell the studio to private investors before C/P got wise to what he was doing. Then the decision to make Discovery prompted CBS to take this seriously. The only reason LFIM hasn't settled/surrendered is that he doesn't want to face the donors. It is just so mind numbingly amazing that AP didn't take the opportunity presented to say "yes, a thousand times yes, we are totally on board with Abrams and Lin and welcome them on our set when we have retooled to be in good relations with the studio". If ????If he loses the case in court
Some of you have already commented on the so-called 'gag order' imposed at STLV, as reported by Axanar supporter Jonathan Lane at FanFilmFactor.com. Here's a roundup of the incident, plus news of what further occurred on Sunday, and whether this really means anything to fan productions not being sued by CBS/Paramount.

Koenig during his panel talked about Renegades, hotw the film allowed him to develop Chekov, and how the guidelines effected changes to the film.
