I see no flaws with this Pizza Hut plan.

I just popped into "Who Monitors the Axamonitor" page and notice that ALL reader comments to every single post have been deleted. So much for a truthful open dialog.

Thank you all for helping me understand this better. I appreciate it greatly. I've done some reading on my own now too. After watching the prelude, man oh man did I want to see that movie made. After doing some reading and listening to you guys I've changed sides. Buddy went way overboard here. Like lunatic bad. And I like star trek continues and would hate to see that shut down. And it seems like the studios have been really rad with fans making material so far. So as much as it makes me totally bummed, I have to firmly stand with paramount and CBS. And all I hope is that the damage to the rest of the fan film community is minimal from the backlash of this man's ego. Although one does wonder why he doesn't just make a different science fiction movie. The sociopath is clearly talented even if he's nuts. (Seriously, coffee?) As a final note I'd like to ask everyone to donate to my new film project, superman in the fortress of solitude.

The studios are cool with it. Don't worry.

Well they haven't sued me yet.

Ok well just trust me anyways. And buy my coffee.
 :rommie: :D

After learning all of this new information you have all been so helpful with, thinking back on prelude to Axanar, I find one part particularly ironic. The speech about the federations dream, and losing what they have built out weighing the cost of losing to the klingons and that be the federations greatest fear. I kind of feel that the dream of what we've created is a wonderful fan community, including all the fan productions. Our greatest fear is now losing those productions and damaging our community. Over that, we fear no lawsuit.

during the mail bag section there is a question about Axanar and fan films generally.

So I would be blind not to notice this, this thread paints the story in one way, but if this gets made, the law suit has been a gift to Axanar, professional news sites, like Deadline Hollywood Daily have talked about it, heck they got JJ Abraham's to mention it , that is an insane amount of free publicity for any fan film to receive.

"See the fan film Paramount didnt want you to see" could be on the promotional materiel, sticking it to the man, is always a good sales method, its pretty clear that alot of the general public will only ever know about Axanar, and that is a fate im not totally sure this project deserves,

^^^ This! So This!

Watching Alec and his acolytes lay into @carlosp about his articles on the Fan Productions FB Summit/Private Chat Alec added a bunch of people too without asking has been quite amusing.

Alec screwed up the entire thing when he named names on a blog post, thus forcing fan productions that had wisely stayed on the sideline to comment or risk looking like they were taking sides due to their silence.

If Alec had kept his mouth shut, he likely would not have to been subject to the indignity of watching literally everyone turn against him.

Too many people at Collider Video are in the bag for Axanar.

There's a weekly show on there called Collider Heroes hosted by documentary director John Schnepp. One of his permanent co-hosts is Robert Meyer Burnett. On the last show Schnepp crowed big about the JJ announcement and acted like everything was a done deal, and other frequent co-host Mark Ellis acted like the lawsuit was about CBS and Paramount mistreating fans. Mainly, for Schnepp it's more about his friend getting to direct something than any love for Peters and company, but still they've planted their flag in the Axanar camp.
