I think this is "fair use", considering it's a joke ;)

That was cited in the LCS brief, and it is indeed fair use. They were using it in an effort to bolster claims of the conlang's ubiquity (and then conclude it's a 'living language'). Except its ubiquity is directly due to Star Trek's ubiquity in our popular culture.

Actually, it's NOT Fair Use.

Why?

Because you don't need Fair Use when you're using your own property.

"Frasier" was a production of Paramount Network Television, a library now owned by CBS Television post-Viacom split. So Paramount already owned the language back then. :)

Burn, Baby...Burn...

Is this the time to give the Special Look to all those that say that Star Trek is just a TV show?

If she has any acumen as a lawyer or poster on social media, she will not only NOT respond, but never ever ever post something like that again...Kahless knows I have posted and then regretted, but that was a clear example of someone not at all aware of their "audience", and a lawyer for the Lord of the Lies really needs council that "knows their audience"...

...Madame Chief Justice, can I bill for that legal and social advice?

BonesMcCoy2014 wants to receive no more PMs from this Moderator--and has been unwilling to take his concerns to the "Moderator Actions" forum. And for that matter, other comments, questions, and concerns he has raised belong in other threads and other non-Fan Productions forums. Please do not be derailed from talking about the content as indicated in this thread's title to discuss irrelevant content he brings up specifically to derail the discussion (which, of course, goes for anyone intentionally disrupting a thread).

Please stay your 800-page course--and my thanks to everyone for your patience with Newbies.

GSchnitzer- You are consistently misrepresenting the truth.
The truth is that you only sent over a message regarding the Moderator Actions forum in the last few hours. If something is related to the CBS v. Axanar thread, there is no reason to exclude those relevant and important facts from this thread. However, you appear to consistently shade the truth, fail to take disciplinary action on people consistently engaging in false statements, and tilt your moderation towards people involved with your own production group at New Voyages.

You have lost all sense of impartiality on this board. You also are putting CBS and Viacom shareholders assets at risk with your persistent defense of Hinman, Pedraza, and Wheeler.

With respect to Wheeler's charge that I am a "homophobe", what is the disciplinary action that you have taken to hold Jody Wheeler accountable for this horrible example of cyber bullying and trolling.

With respect to Hinman's last posting, he clearly attributed several quotes to me when in fact I never wrote those paragraphs and have no idea where Mr. Hinman extracted those comments.

But this is not new behavior for you or the others I am specifically calling out on this thread. In fact, the behavior has been noted and reported on Facebook, Trek.FM, and Trekmovies.

I am not the issue GSchnitzer. You are.

I don't recall anyone calling you a homophobe. But your statements can certainly be labeled homophobic.
If you had taken 2 minutes to read the statement in the other locked thread (locked I might add by the GSchnitzer moderator and TOTALLY preventing a fair discussion of production standards in FAN PRODUCTION), you would have seen my history in risking my own life for the benefit of my patients.

More importantly, your statement is an abject lie because anyone who was on this board would have seen JWheeler's accusation and can insinuate plenty in your own statement just made.

Quoting this, because it bears repeating.

Mr. Hinman, I have low regard for your reporting already but attributing quotes to the incorrect person is highly inappropriate, totally unprofessional (at least for real journalists), and yet you have done just that in your posting.
Who made those statements because those quotes were not written by me.
(Specifically, the portion where you write:
quote...as you continue to put the idea that we are hurting CBS out there, I believe the burden of proof is on you to provide an analysis of the events at hand and how they've affected CBS as a whole. You've made the statements. But you've given us no data to back these claims up. end quote
Oh, his analysis is hilarious. Primarily, showing that Disney's stock went up after the acquisition of Star Wars, primarily because of how Lucasfilm treats fan-films (and nothing to do with the billions of dollars the new Star Wars movies could make).

quote
If CBS and Paramount decide to axe fan films completely, that is their choice. Our little group discussing it here has no bearing AT ALL on that decision. If Star Trek Continues hadn't managed to meet its goal (thanks to hefty private donations, yes, but more power to them), it would not have been the fault of this discussion thread.
end quote.

Please do not attribute someone else's words and comments to me. I find that reprehensibly poor but sadly consistent with your prior irresponsible conduct.

This concludes my comments and participation on this board. I am not interested in your discussion or your reporting when you are so derelict and irresponsible as to mistakenly attribute to me something that I did not say, something that I did not write, and something that does not reflect my previous statements.

As for your ridiculous statement regarding my opinions on CBS v. ABC/Disney stock, YOU are the only person making this false statement that "because of how Lucasfilm treats fan-films (and nothing to do with the billions of dollars the new Star Wars movies could make)."

I wrote very clear explanations regarding the legal exposure that you were creating to CBS in YOUR decision to intervene in the CBS v. Axanar case. My opinions began with gentle requests for you to stand down in your behavior. You choose to ignore these requests even when I pointed out that your false reporting was creating a false impression about CBS. Instead, you chose to continue your arguments by making false claims and assertions, including those in your most recent missive.

If you want to crucify me for my own dedication to values, you have done just fine spitting in my direction. But, I will sit by as you continue to paint CBS in such negative light.

Lastly, regarding your charge that I need to clear my words by Viacom first, absolutely not. I do not speak for either Viacom or CBS. They have Attorneys at Loeb & Loeb, Administrative staff in Hollywood, and PR people in LA who speak for them. But, as a shareholder of Viacom and as a prospective shareholder of CBS, I have every right to object to your erroneous reporting, to Pedraza's speculation of wider legal action by CBS against all fan films, and to other defamatory statements about CBS, Viacom and others in this thread.

I am now starting to see testimony in various chat fora where it appears that similar individuals have done the same thing to others as I have had done to me in this group over the past week.

I see FOUR LIGHTS Mr. Hinman and Mr. Schnitzer. FOUR LIGHTS!

He did no such thing. Look again. The first seven pull-quotes are from one of your posts, and the next four are from Campe98's post.

Sir, in my window, I see no such attribution quoted.
Mr. Hinman has misrepresented the facts and does so willingly and without remorse.
Calling himself a "professional journalist" is ridiculous.
Such behavior would have you fired by your editor and you would never work again.

Been searching the NYSE for AXA preferred stock...my broker says to get in, now! Anybody got a line on how I can buy some shares?
