Mine too, but only when I was old enough to understand (Jan was a teenager before I was born).Jan Brady was a teenage crush of mine.
In all seriousness, what if one of the other productions out there created an Axanar/Garth of Izar fan-film? How do you think he'd react?
Wrong on a few points.Let's build a new TV series around a second-banana character about whom nothing interesting has been established
Glad you asked."Great idea - what's the series about?"
Or any of the other actors depicting Trek captains, ideally Takei would bring a different interpretation to the role of the captain. In his various acting roles, Takei alway seen to bring (to use a term) elegance to the role. Use this in the character's makeup, Sulu will be a older character, there are bound to be new aspects to his personality.... except with Takei instead of William Shatner
To be honest, the Excelsior isn't one of my favorites. Maybe it can get a "refit" prior to show, barring that the Sulu series can take place aboard Sulu's next command.and a way uglier ship
Who?Alec Peters
Entertainment has changed through the years and the Sulu series will reflect this in the composition of the characters, the direction of the stories.
Who?Alec Peters
Sorry George, after Sulu appeared on Voyager in a cringe-worthy performance, only out-cringed by GLWs' acting, I would NEVER want to see an Excelsior series. George may be good for live theater (Broadway) but I don't think he knows how to temper it down for television.
I don't think it will give CBS pause at all. How many times did people want William Shatner back, and nothing happened? Seriously, Bill Shatner could demand to be put back in Star Trek, with thousands of fans to back him up, and CBS would probably say "That's nice, Bill, but this is our property, and we don't want to move in that direction."
As much as I love Sulu (he was great in TUC and the Voyager episode fleshed out his Captaincy nicely) I think at this point the possibility of an Excelsior series is in the rear-view mirror.
That said, if the new online series is set in the post-Kirk/pre-Picard movie era, I would not mind seeing a cameo from Sulu. But if they're hoping for cameos, I'd like to think they'd set the show post-Nemesis where most of the actors from that era are still alive...
Again, though, I think if the actors are apologetic and/or feign ignorance of the problems, it won't be an issue.
I'd watch one starring John Cho!As much as I love Sulu (he was great in TUC and the Voyager episode fleshed out his Captaincy nicely) I think at this point the possibility of an Excelsior series is in the rear-view mirror.
I'd watch one starring John Cho!
I don't think the actors will have any issues.
They were paid for a job, it's not like they were fans who worked on a fan film for free. Oh wait...![]()
And how do you think CBS would feel if they were on social media bad-mouthing the big bad corporation and that "Axanar is what the fans REALLY want to see!" Probably not good.
Honestly, they're not important enough that anyone from CBS would know or care who they are, what they tweet or that they were involved with this at any level.
The antics of Peters and his moderators kinda make the Axanar camp sound like North Korea as the mainstream press portrays it. Glad I'm not drinking that brand of Kool-Aid.
To Know a Jedi also doesn't attempt to be a Star Wars movie in any way, shape, or form.
well they are still working on the studio infrastructure. Not sure if it means they are spending donor money while under lawsuit, maybe unpaid staff are working it with supplies bought before the lawsuit.
