I call bullshit on the threats for starters.
Second, I don't understand the arrogance of the anti-Axanar people here.
People have been making Trek fan films for years with no problem. They get funding or do it themselves.
Everyone who contributed (to whatever website fundraising thing they used) knew what they were getting into.
As for the big "scandal" of the carpet. IT'S A FRIGGIN OFFICE. You don't walk around on plywood especially if you have actors (known and unknown) coming to meet there. Let Axanar live or die by it's final product, not by BBS trolls who think they know how everything "should" be done.
DISCLAIMER: I have no affiliation with Axanar or any other fan film other than being a viewer and a Trek fan since 1966.
I'm not 'Anti-Axanar' per se as I pledged $75 on the first 'full feature' Axanar KS. I would enjoy seeing the finished product. That said, given the actions of Mr. peters and his production group since then, (the blatant unlicensed Star Trek related merchandise sales, him paying himself and his wife a salary), etc. I'm not a fan of blatant and defiant criminal acts, and what I can only see as open acts of fraud against the backers. I pledged for my funds to go toward production of said fan film; NOT for office upgrades for a studio offices to be used for OTHER for profit productions. The arrogance (and stupidity) of Mr. peters is evident in everything he's posted since he was served with the lawsuit; from suddenly saying the studio was not meant for other productions (contradicted in video blogs and comments made months ago; and contradicted by words and actions detailed in recent blog posts by Mr. peters as well.)
As to spending backer money on new carpet; the blog even details the removal of the EXISTING carpet. Why buy new carpet instead of using what's there already (especially if you're continuing to state you need more funds to make said single feature film?) Not very efficient use of funds (IMO).
As for letting "Axanar die by it's final product"...I have to say, given that ALL we have of the Axanar feature to date is a 3 minute scene on Vulcan - for $600K+ backer investment: Sorry - as a backer, I'm not impressed. interesting that many Pro-Axanar supporters seem to think this will be the best Star Trek film made in a couple of decades based on said 3 minute scene.
Then there's posts about 'production delays' which is interesting when the lawsuit first hit; Mr. Peters posted shooting would start in February; yet most recently in response of a post on the Axanar site now claims March...Come on, how dense do you have to be to not realize he's just stringing everyone along (and continuing to accept donations/pledges) BUT will in all likelihood NEVER be able to deliver the 'final product' due to his incompetence, and frivolous attitude toward and treatment of the VERY SERIOUS AND REAL lawsuit filed against him? (Yeah, they 'celebrate with Sushi')
And for all his claims of 'openness to backers' ; actor Tony Todd is still displayed prominently on the website; even though he's no longer involved in the Production (Something that wasn't very openly communicated or acknowledged by Mr. Peters until Mr. Todd started tweeting about it.
Again, I'm not 'Anti-Axanar'; I'm against seeing good people/fans essentially defrauded and lied to. And yes, I was 100% aware of the situation that CBS/Paramount could decide to enforce their right and pull the plug - but Mr. Peters actions since their intention to do so have been made evident - has been anything but conciliatory towards CBS/Paramount, OR the Backers who funded prior to the lawsuit being filed - and further comes across as believing he can in fact use Star Trek copyrighted material without a license or approval as he sees fit to continue to merchandise and make money.
^^^
That's just plain wrong and possibly criminal (depending on the outcome of the lawsuit). So, yeah, when I see such actions and comments by the head person (which seems to indicate very little grasp of the reality of his situation - or worse that he knows he won't be able to finish Axanar, but thinks he'll somehow be able to keep control of the studio/offices he's rented and renovated using Backer funds for Axanar - to make some for profit productions after all the dust has settled); I will vent and express my displeasure at someone who seems to have defrauded many (including myself)- and has no issue continuing to do so.
(Oh, and sorry, I've only been a Star Trek fan myself since 1969 - I was 6 years old when I first saw "Elaan of Troyius" on NBC - so yeah, there you have me beat by 3 years.)
