CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

right below this image on the Axanar site is a thread where they have posted that the project will be "vigorously defended". Such a huge head of steam built up around them fighting back.

Things I have personally dealt with YES. And many times the defendant's legal team will file electronically at about 445pm on the last day to keep the plaintiff from having anytime to reply till the next day......it is all a dance they do..........

PACERmonitor shows no activity yesterday. How forgiving is the court likely to be on missing the deadline (in general, I mean; I know it will probably vary from judge to judge)?
 
When Alec claimed that the BBS made up the 1/20/16 deadline for a reply, I went and checked PACERMonitor. Here's Documents #15-16:

PROOF OF SERVICE Executed by Plaintiff Paramount Pictures Corporation, CBS Studios Inc, upon Defendant Axanar Productions, Inc. served on 12/30/2015, answer due 1/20/2016. That's not the TrekBBS saying it; that's the U.S. District Court for Central California saying it.

If that is from one those Axanar Marines, or anybody connected with the production, terminate them with extreme prejudice...

What happened? Was it somebody connected to the production?
