CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

My guess is that it will be someone looking for the publicity of the case. My bet would be on Johnnie Cochran if he was still around. ;)

Agreed on all counts. When I saw the Loeb & Loeb attorney, I damn near had to change underwear. Seeing the Axanar attorney, I kind of wanted to pet him, and snuggle. I doubt that was the impression he wants to give, though he is adorable.
When I saw that Johnathan Zavin was part of this, that was it game over. That man has a rep for being a pitbull, and it's earned.

Best thing Axanar could have done is just shuttered up, hid under the bed, and not move...I hear
Zavin's sight is key to motion and IP infringement.

Y'know, I've been a law blogger going on 16 years now. Written about hundreds of cases. This is the first time I ever had to check to make sure the attorney for one of the litigants had actually passed the bar.

And he did. On December 4, 2015. So happy one-month anniversary, Mr. Schmidt!

Yes, that's his name. I didn't want to say it for fear he would show up. Some people fear the Candyman, I'm watching behind my back for Johnathan Zavin.

*glances behind him*

*breathes sigh of relief*

Well congratulations to him! I feel terrible that this might be his first major case. Still, that wouldn't be held against him considering the competition, would it? Should we buy him drinks now, or later?

I'm sure Peters has already bought him drinks with donor money. :techman:

Well, when you're a professional, independent production, you have to buy drinks for the brand new, just certified lawyer going up against one of the most powerful legal teams in the country. I'm sure the donors are okay with that.

Hey, only "fan films" like Star Trek Continues hire experienced tax attorneys to handle their tax filings. Professional productions like Axanar don't need that sort of thing.

"I was watching Matlock in a bar last night. The sound wasn't on but I got the gist of it."
