CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

I'm sure Peters has already bought him drinks with donor money. :techman:

Well, when you're a professional, independent production, you have to buy drinks for the brand new, just certified lawyer going up against one of the most powerful legal teams in the country. I'm sure the donors are okay with that.

Hey, only "fan films" like Star Trek Continues hire experienced tax attorneys to handle their tax filings. Professional productions like Axanar don't need that sort of thing.
I don't know how any of it works, I'm just a corporate shill.

Yeah, I saw her posts. That was some bullshit on their part.

I was already doing this, so just in case:

Y'know, I've been a law blogger going on 16 years now. Written about hundreds of cases. This is the first time I ever had to check to make sure the attorney for one of the litigants had actually passed the bar.

And he did. On December 4, 2015. So happy one-month anniversary, Mr. Schmidt!

Many happy returns. Enjoy your future used car dealership.

I enjoyed that Mr. Peters effectively says: "You haters aren't backers..."

Why?

I did back Axanar (to the tune of $75 for the BluRay DVD on the first feature film KS - post 'Prelude to Axanar' and will admit I would love to see the finished product.

That said, I completely understand (and agree with the reasoning as to) WHY CBS/Paramount initiated said lawsuit; and I decry the blatant copyright infringement actions and commercialization actions that Mr. Peters continues to use to make money for himself (the 38K salary he lists for himself and the unknown deferred salary listed for his wife not to mention the monies used for Star Trek Convention trips; and a 'for profit' studio space for 'other legitimate projects', etc.)

I'm not a 'hater' of Axanar per se; I just refuse to condone the illegal and possibly fraudulent actions its Executive Producer is engaging in while supposedly attempting to complete that "independent Star Trek film"; and in the end, I stand on the side of the LEGAL owners of the Star Trek IP and their desire/need to protect it and civilly punish those who egregiously use it without any permission from or respect of the actual Star Trek copyright holders.

I wonder if he'll be able to turn his Axanar script into a prison play?

"http://axanarcoffee.com" leads to an unavailable shopify site. "http://www.axanarcoffee.com" leads to the current site. This may have always been the case.

'tis true.

Interesting link below from the Hansa side. Whether it's genuine or still active is another matter.

http://hansacoffee.com/shop/axanar-ramirez/

It's not possible to checkout your cart via this page. So Ramirez coffee, if it were ever sold, is the first true Axanar rarity.

So I just took a look at Memory-Alpha and it looks like they may've reached there too. Someone's been changing the Battle of Axanar related pages and adding info from the fanfilm to them.

Why go down by yourself, when you can drag tons of other folks down with you?

Oh. My. God.

Well, since that implies he'll definitely have lost the lawsuit; and then perhaps a criminal fraud case - he'd need to change the title. To suit a prison audience, I'd suggest:

"Star Chain Gang: Ass-inar" :techman::devil::evil:
