CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

So I was just explaining this mess with "Ares Digital" to my wife, and I had a sudden thought: Would not KickStarter have the list of who donated and thus who is owed what perk? Why is Axanar waiting on Mr. McIntosh for the database??? Can't they get the information from the donor sites???

The donor sites still have the original mailing addresses and the email addresses of the donors. They could easily email the people who donated to confirm that their mailing addresses haven't changed. It might take them a while to contact everyone, but they can certainly do it.

these proceedings might put a damper on independent films of all types, not just fan films
Not sure what you mean by this. If you mean other genre besides Trek, it's possible CBS and other networks / studios will take a hard look at their other IP interests. I don't know if there are any, say, fan-films using Marvin comics characters Iron Man, Captain America, etc, but thus far it appears the studio looks the other way just as CBS did with Trek for so many decades. But if you mean "independent film" as in a commercial venture (which is pretty much what Axanar turned into), then yeah, they need to get slapped down.

That would take initiative and a desire to make the donors happy. From what I've seen they just make Diana tap dance every 6 weeks or so.

Fans of Car Talk will never fault you for bringing back a smile.
Don't forget the Russian chauffeur Pikop Andropov.

Serious question here: how may people even want their perks anymore? The lawsuit and the continued narcissistic assclownery from AP and the gang have turned a lot of former supporters against them. I know we're discussing the perk delivery problems as one more line of evidence that the people behind Axanar are lazy/incompetent/con artists, but how many people are there who actually still want those damned patches?

It was a decent troll... for about 3 seconds I believed what he was saying, which is a pretty decent interval for a troll post.
Reminds me of when Enterprise was in production or maybe Nemesis someone on the BBS claimed to have an uncle working on it..........Seems none of the "inside info" ever panned out.

For inside information to be valid, you have to be close to an actual insider. None of these knuckleheads know the janitor, much less a person with decision making powers.

I never like "unnamed sources".

Ok, so they are close family, but I wonder how the "High-Up source" felt about getting a sex change operation?

"For his protection, I am going change his location, sex, and job description, otherwise I could get him into a lot of trouble."

Plus, BBQ on Memorial Day? Who ever heard of such a thing???

"Alec Peters is going to be a consultant on CBS’s new Star Trek show!"
