"Copyrightable", of course, not being a word at all, and therefor being appealable. (Also, not a word.)

But we're a professional, independent fan thread!
Yes. Seeing as we are in regular communication with top management at TBBS, we are well aware of the rules set forth or independent threads, and we will not make the same mistake other threads have and incur the wrath of @T'Bonz.
Thanks to our ACTUAL attorneys, I am certain that we will not encounter any legal trouble as we work to bring to life what thousands of Star Trek fans have asked for: a comprehensive account - full of laughter, tears, and uncut snark - of the deeds and misdeeds of the insipid crew of the U.S.S. Ares and their attempts to last four years in a war with the CBS/Federation Alliance.

Ah, I see TheGrandNagus herding cats over there. The difference seems to be it hasn't occurred to any of the people in that thread to

Now here's what kickstarter for a media should be about

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mst3k/bringbackmst3k

presumably done by the IP holders, not some knockoff fan group, and obtaining the permissions for the films they do, even though they parody them

It's Joel Hodgson, the creator, who did the campaign, so, yeah, very much the IP holder.
Actually, they pay to use the films, they did when the show was running, as well. And, I would argue, they aren't parodying the movies. They are up and up making fun of them. Which is different than parody. Airplane! would be a parody of a disaster movie. They MIGHT be able to argue they could use them for free under Fair Use--they are using the works in a transformative way... but, that would still be determined in a court if someone wanted to sue. (And I think they would lose--they aren't really transforming the works...)

And MST3K has always been a low budget affair, so fighting a lawsuit would be difficult. (In fact that's one of the reasons they stopped, companies started charging them more and more to use their shitty films. And, a reason why in the Kickstarter Joel didn't announce what movies, for fear the companies would charge more for their shitty films.)

I can't read through that thread - the GIANT MASSIVE INSANELY LARGE signature boxes drive me crazy.

you can use 'options' on adblockplus by the 'add your own filters tab' to block these, but I am not sure this filter tab is present in AdblockPlus for all browsers. you could check it first if you wish. just click on the adblockplus toolbar icon, or if you dont have that on display, go into the extensions menu of your browser and access options on adblockplus from there. if no joy, install this extension:

go to your official mozilla/chrome extensions store and download adblock element hiding helper. When installed, click its icon, choose "Edit Rules", and a browser tab will open with the helper's settings.

signature block Setup:

choose the tab "Add Your Own Filters", the and add the following line:

arcgames.com##.UserSignature

notice the dot before the U. after you insert and you see it go into the list, just close the tab.

if you need to install adblockplus its fine to accept all its defaults including the EasyList filter list, it will block various ads, but it has options to turn them off for sites, or more precisely if you wish.
