Remember who they are talking to. Jet Propulsion Laboratory staff. Home of VGer, for real. The chances no one there knows anything about Trek fan goings-on is nil.

All that being true, the chances that there is not a circle of brainy, active Trek geeks at a facility that designs and flys deep space probes for a living is the definition of zero.
That people who would overly give credit and enthusiasm to a false Axanar narrative are knowingly taken advantage of is repellent. These are people whose real world space accomplishments on a little finger are more than Axanars dreams of pew pew.
Oh, wait. I misread you. Yeah, okay. Good. It is possible to probable(?) that there would be Trek geeks there. Who definitely would have noticed the Headlines and media articles pushing the little guy/Giant Company version. Who could possibly also be Trek geeks who talk on message boards. One or two of whom might have perused this thread. Which might have led them at least to AxaMonitor.
That might have balanced out the enormous amount of misinformation loaded onto a dozen or more Trek.fm and other geek poscasts and YouTube geek pundits and all those official podcasts & vlogs & production site postings and fff & that other blogger, etc.
So my initial fear for them might be unfounded.

I don't understand why this is hurting me so much. And I don't understand why I am crying.

Because I've recently been visiting his space on the internet to introduce myself and converse with him in a now clearly misguided step that was done with naive hope of making a kind of first step toward we fans on the various sides of this issue remembering we Also have common ground and similarities that are Also worth embracing.

I did go back and try again. (inspired by Poco 'Keep on Tryin' that I listened to 14 times) We had a conversation about this and seemed able to hear each other a bit in the moment.

It was NEVER ETHICALLY OR LEGALLY JUSTIFIED, no matter how many fans bought into it as unknowing victims, to repurpose a huge fundraising response into "first we will build a professional marketable studio for our personal future profit, knowingly ripping off many hundreds of thousands of dollars in Trek IP market value in the process, and THEN make your fan film". YOU NEVER EVER COMPLETELY WITH FULL ADMISSION OF GUILT SAY THIS. That you crashed and burned over warranted legal opposition, or even that you put your own money into it does not absolve this in the least.

I was referring to the person you quoted, and their arguments.
Best of luck trying to get them to 'see' reasonable questions. Even at this late date, if Mr. Lane were to actually accept that stealing hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars of Trek IP, spending it on private profit and personal perks (till you are caught), blowing off the donors, and endlessly lying about it is wrong, it would be something.
This may be the ugliest thing that has happened in the record of producing Trek. I guess we can't really know because anything this bad happening behind studio doors probably would be hushed. But from what is known, some perspective. Worst ever.

Fact 1 and 2 demonstrate a catastrophic level of incompetence at the very least, and paired with available court documents show that Alec is not to be trusted with any additional donated funds.
