I assume Berman heard enough of all the BTS issues with Singer that he was like “nah, we’ll give you a one second cameo, but nothing more”.

I highly doubt whether that had any bearing tbh. He was gainfully employed by Hollywood during that period, being given huge projects by Fox and Warners before and after. He was working closely with Star Trek's biggest star as well as a host of other A-listers. The Weinsteins were at their zenith.

It's more likely that he wasn't gettable by Paramount at that point because of his work on X2 when Nemesis was in production.

I was partly being facetious, but even then there was a space of three months between the completion of NEMESIS and the start of X2 that could have made it possible. But I think Paramount giving the movie to Baird as a favor tells me this was not entirely up to Berman.

Yeah, I don't think Berman had much influence on NEM with the studio installing a writer and director.

I didn’t know Logan was the studio’s. Was always under the impression he got the gig because Spiner pushed him to Berman, unless Spiner went behind Berman and pushed Logan to the studio.

Makes sense given Robert Meyer Burnett’s involvement. Singer’s crew have always wanted a crack at Trek. I actually do believe Singer could have delivered a decent Trek film back in the day, if he wasn’t so busy touching underaged boys*. *=that reminds me. Awhile back RMB had Singer phone in on one of his shows and when his followers called him out for giving Singer a platform he got very defensive. A lot of his defense was quite um… gross.

I wouldn't ever let Singer touch Trek. He would start into it and then get distracted by the next shiny bauble that came along and drop the former like it never existed. He did the same exact thing with the TOS Battlestar Galactica continuation project with Tom DeSanto. IIRC, he went to work on a new "Munsters" movie project instead, which also ironically fell through after he left BSG. Yeah, he's made a couple of gems along the way but, on the whole and setting aside his...proclivities, I think he's pretty much done.

I'm sure this will piss a couple of people off around here.

RMB seems to be the only guy I’ve seen outwardly defend Singer. All of the other regular collaborators like John Ottman have basically distanced themselves from Singer after BOHEMIAN RHAPOSODY.

It's a weird hill on which to die. I mean, sure, he's not been found guilty or even charged with any illegality, but bragging about dragging hot twinks to a professional engagement is a wild flex.
