I'd like to apologize for not keeping up with this thread. two things that bother me. One is that I've considered William and Jack as friends and their lifestyle wasn't my business. I wrote scripts perfect for Jack and his eyepatch. Anytime I needed that perfect new face William found it.
moving forward, the studio released two productions that both had Cystal in the title. My exe said slow lane wanted to interview both the writers, so I applied to sign up to his FB page. What was waiting for me was admins and other Axanar supporters that want to talk about my lifestyle and the g.a.y.n.e.s.s. of my script.(A clear ambush) A few other comments questing if Richard and I sharing blankets. I probably made an ass out myself and left. So, my exe probably got half the story, and I'd rather fade into the background than hurt the studio. I didn't write another script until feb 28th, 2023 when my best friend and step dad Clyde Perry passed away because in space nobody can hear you cry and the studio produced "The sleeping Dragon" (in case you didn't know what it was about.)
So last night I ran across a You Tube thread about some dust up My EXE and Slow lane had on his famous Trek site, Sure enough an hour worth of reading of how poor Slow lane became the victim of a comment by my EXE. made two years ago. I'm sure only one side of the story was posted but I know my exe and his character is nothing close to what slow lane painted him to be. As proof, the exe. puts up with me.
2nd thing is all this Gene's vision. 3rd grade we got all the Wernher von Braun/ Walt Disney films with Brauns vision of ships with crews venturing into space except Braun's drawing looked more like the daedalus class.
In the early 60' my dad would take us to every new syfi or John Wayne flick on opening day. Every Syfi flick and late-night creature feature had weak earthlings scampering back to earth with a vo of how bad we are as a race. To a 10year old, Gene's vision was simply that we aren't getting kicked around anymore by creepy looking aliens. I question, what did Gene invent that Paramount somehow owns? The enterprise or the D57 with tail pipes? Transporters or a device from 1958's the fly? Warp drive or a white paper from the science journal. colonies in spaceships or Von Braum concept?
It truth Gene's vision was putting food on the table which by the way is the mother of all invention.
Now that I had my say, I'll go back to tending to the mountain, fishing and watching cows graze on the grass.

Because I feel bad whenever I just post a Frinkiac-generated meme and leave, I will say that the part about the studio does a bit of a dodge that's obvious just in the video itself with no further research, where he shifts from being accused of working on a for-profit studio space, to saying that renting out the studio wouldn't have been seeking profit from Star Trek and that overbuilding the soundstage with an eye towards future use didn't pull money from going towards finishing Axanar, which doesn't quite add up.
The fan-film community surviving the guidelines a fair point, but pointing out that it's been ten years since they came out rocketed me back even further to 2013 when I first saw "Prelude." Do you know what my life was like in 2013 compared to today? What the world was like? The past twelve-and-a-half years have been very eventful, and I don't think reminding me of how long it's been without the promised Axanar movie, which isn't actually going to happen anymore anyway and has been replaced with a smaller-scale project, is a great idea, even if it is nearing some kind of completion. I mean, to start with, two of their headline actors have died. Star Trek has had two movies and six entire shows filmed beginning to end in that time.
Also, the idea that the guidelines are a paper tiger since only Axanar has been burned by them (for being too good) is a bit pernicious. The guidelines are just that. I'm quite sure that anyone who was sufficiently motivated could absolutely get their fanfilm smacked down, possibly even while staying within the letter of the guidelines (because they're guidelines, not guarantees or rules; the very name tells you that the current corporate entity with ownership over Star Trek has discretion over whether to apply them or not in taking or deferring action). Honestly, I've been seeing a recent increase in CBS taking notice of fan-made Trek products, as well as making licensing more onerous for the ones willing to do it the right way, so I wouldn't crow too quickly about that. I'm not confident we're not going to the bad old days of the '90s when Paramount was shutting down fan websites for posting screencaps and smashing small-run unofficial model kits (even while production personnel were grabbing them for the shows when they were in a pinch).

(The whole situation has always been saddening, and a long case of squandered potential; I did like the original production.)

So he says in that video that episodes 1-3 are out, and they're working on 4 and 5? I've been following this thing from the beginning on and off, and all I see on the aforementioned Youtube channel are clips they've released, the "Peace in Our Time" edit...and trailers. Not actual episodes. So I assume this is a lie as well from him.

Yeah, I noticed he didn’t address the cult “lie”, which is probably the one thing that catapulted the project into next-level cray-cray land.
I still remember when Alec on the Axanar podcast talking about them being the first "fully independent Star Trek production" and scoffed at the label of being a fan-film.

I watched almost the entirety of Burnett and Jenkins, I had completely forgotten that Paul Jenkins was involved in this and the spending habits with the Axanar Production account is egregious. Robert is exactly correct about his explanation about how a production account is supposed to work.

Yep, Alec waited until the day of the trial before dropping half the case against Paul. What was left was much harder for Paul to make his case on which along with some other legal shenanigans led to the judge ruling against him.
Alec may not be able to produce a fan film, but he is very good at manipulating the USA legal system in his favour.
