It will be especially spinny, given that the settlement has been played as a "big win" for Axanar in recent months, strongly implying that Alec fought CBS into a standstill and forced them to accept a deal that was very favourable to him

RMB's using the hashtag #AXANARISDEAD.

Not quite. I want LFIM to make it official by admitting defeat (or at least shutting down and complaining about how unfair CBS is, whatever).

Still, they're in the Master's Chamber, gathered for the feast. I want to see if they have better luck with their steely knives this time...

Just sitting back waiting on the spin to begin.

And it already started on FFF claiming the letter is simply just a "request for information" and nothing more.

Yeah like lawyers are going to send a letter just to check in and see how the girlfriend is doing. No, if lawyers send a letter like that they already have good reasons to believe you violated the settlement (and hell they hardly need to go any furthur then lane's blogs). All the cute things alec things he is getting away with "the fundraiser is for the studio not for axanar" and "donate to trekcetera and axanar will get some of the money" and the latest "I'm not involved in interlude but just make a bunch of the decisions" is catching up to him... of yeah and his licensing axanar to a game as well.

The idiot still thinks the "Axanar universe" is his to do with as he pleases completely seprate from star trek itself.

I hadn't been on Axamonitor in several weeks, and checked out the article that someone mentioned earlier. Somehow the fact that AP may have violated the terms of the settlement does not surprise me. What I have a real problem with is that he thinks he needs $200,000 something to make the 2 15 minute segments. To quote Chris Rock's character from the movie Head of State, "That ain't right." Per the fan film guidelines, you are limited to $50,000 for 2 15 minute segments. He should be held to the same standards as everyone else.

I am so sick of AP's version of Axanar. I wish it would go away. What I'd really like to see is for another filmmaker to make Axanar before AP can. I'm an amateur, I did wedding videography on the site for a while, but couldn't make a go of it. I'm more of an idea guy, and if I had more resources, I'd be very tempted to try.

I take comfort in the fact that one day AP will get what's coming to him.

AP making Axanar is not subject to the guidelines. He is subject to the court settlement. In terms of fundraising that means he can raise as much as he wants but can only do a PRIVATE fundraiser. He cannot do a gofundme, kickstarter, or igg (though lane plans to help him get around that restriction). The $50K limit is for public fundraising. Alec's public limit s $0.

I do agree though that $200k for two 15 minute segments is way too much,

Strange that Jonathan and Alec have remained silent thus far............

It takes time for Lane to write part 1 of his 20 part series on how this letter is really a big win for axanar.

My guesses
- Carlos published this to overshadow the shooting going on this weekend
- It just shows CBS is still scared of axanar and knows they are doing better work then they are
- look at al the positive things going on with axanar and don't let people bring you down.
- stand up the big corporation who is trying to silence the little guy
- and maybe also a rant about copyright being too long and companies having too much control in there as well
- Axanar finances were reviewed by an "independent board" who said they were all good so CBS's lawyers are just plan wrong in their accusatoin
- and the one we already saw earlier today "it was just a request for information". CBS is just checkiing in to make sure setlement is being adhered to which it is. They don't actually think alec has done anything wrong. Alec will send the info and that will be the end of that.

and then add another 100,000 words or so.

My guess is Alec is just smart enough to know this time he'd better not shoot off his mouth right away for fear of the the whole thing crashing down. How many picoseconds this reticence lasts is anyone's guess.

He's not that good. He'll say something stupid soon... and I still think Lane is working on a "cbs is scared of axanar and sends letter on eve of shooting"
