The transporter stage is gone... scrap... didn't fit in the trucks when Alec was moving cross country so it went in the dumpster.
Whaaat??? Seriously? How much did the cost to build in the first place? (Probably incalculable, if you try to count free labor, but the materials should have a cost.)

Who knows? He was supposed to have a "big pre-production" meeting at Axacon, but some of the key figures didn't bother to show up.
Methinks he is going back to his original template and building out the bridge so he can (in his fevered dreams) monetize it in some way.
That is what I figured as well, someone ELSE is wanting to rent it for filming so he's in a mad dash to get it useable. In the brief part of the update I watched he said during AxaCon they had it powered by generators outside because the "studio" power grid couldn't handle it. That's gonna be a nightmare for the sound guys if they ever do film anything on the sets. And by studio I of course mean warehouse.

Impossible to know, but one of the things that Robert Meyer Burnett crowed about on social media was that the transporter set had custom laser cut pads that were made of thick enough plexiglass that they could be stood on...
I have tried to put the "movie" script out of my mind, but I do not recall a single scene set in the transporter room... so why they even built it is beyond me.

Of course, he can't use a generator. The self-storage unit isn't soundproofed in any way, so recording dialogue will be a nightmare as it is, even without the giant diesel engine.
As per usual, Alec is now spending even more money to overcome his poor planning and conform to the limits of the building.

ADR THE WHOLE THING!!!!!!!!!!

Last I heard he was still planing on shooting his 15 min episodes in LA and the bridge wasn't even going to be used. Has this changed? Seems like finishing the bridge has become a priority for him in the past month or so. I might be outta the current loop, I kinda lost interest after the GA move to be honest.

I think right now it is jealousy from stage 9 and cawley.

How so?

edit - "jealousy from" as in jealousy coming from those two?!? You mean Stage 9 and James Cawley are jealous of Alec Peters? I don't think so.

Do you mean "jealousy of"?

Don't forget that is without any equipment needed for filming running like lighting.

He said in a recent update the "studio" can only handle 200 Amps. So they are going to backlit plexis over the monitors with a handful of monitors running off rasberry pi vs computers. Even with that, the bridge will take 77 Amps to run.

So you have about 100 Amps total then for lighting, recording equipment, cameras, etc.

I doubt he thought this far ahead, but he has been talking about the various tools that let you film with your phone.
Again, with each change he limits the type of production that can be made in his "studio" but that's not important to Alec. He wants the accolades of being the Big Man On Set, wandering around and glad-handling, then heading to restaurant afterwords where someone can buy him drinks and ice cream.

100 Amps for filming!!! That's not enough to operate a 12 channel mixer (which takes 120 amps) I guess there is always flashlights and iPhones! Well, in reality it doesn't matter; Axanar will never film anything.

In this recent post his main goal was to be able to flip a switch and the bridge set light up.

Actually filing on the set? Not important.

LOL there was a pic a couple months ago of the set and I pointed out the problems with it, namely the inadequate electrical and lack of sound proofing.

That does not mean the place can't be retrofitted, however. Cawley's old studio was a former used car dealership/garage and I was always amazed at how it was setup to film. Still, there were some issues, like filming when it was raining, the noise from the rain on the roof made the dialog recording pretty useless and you had to use ADR to fix everything. These days, I find that ADR is used to replace much of the original dialog track anyways, at least on productions i have been involved with.

BTW, I await the upcoming Axanar crowdfunding drive to upgrade the studio! ;)

Jespah, if you make any pies, I may have to drive a little bit north to get some. :)

Maybe his corporate sponsor will invest in a lighting grid for him. Last year when I was filming on sets at Pinewood and Elstree I'd giggle thinking about Alec and his world's largest green screen he bragged about when he was in CA.

Pinewood nice! i would love to check that out someday if I even get to England. Were they doing and Star Wars related shooting when you were there?
