Axanar update posted on youtube this week (to get us back onto the main topic at hand). Audio drama with the original(?) full length script by sometime this summer and then the next two shoots sometime after that. Assuming he doesn't loose his 7th director (or whichever one he's on)...

Audio drama, eh? That should have everyone respecting the True Trek Vision (trademark forever pending).
Did someone say True Trek Vision? :techman:

The schedule is just a bit...ambitious... (I'm trying to be kind here, but I'm not sure why). Obviously they're assuming it's just a matter of having actors record some lines, get a couple of editors to put it together and badda boom, badda bing! Alec, if you're reading this is, it ain't that easy.

Wait, so the montage sequence I saw, er, somewhere was exaggerated?

My whole life has been a lie.

Doesn't matter, Axanar's entire scheme has been to do some other project before making the final product, followed by a plea for additional funding in order to finish the other project. Expect to see from them sometime later this summer: "Oops, this was harder/taking longer than we thought, but it's really cool and we want to finish it for you guys, but first we need a little more money!"

The latest is asking people to help out with the monthly rent for the "studio" (read: warehouse) that was originally intended to be self-sustaining for other film projects outside Axanar.

Problem is: How many early TOS-era projects ARE out there that could use that specific collection of sets to make it a sustainable source of revenue? In Georgia? I'm not sure of exact numbers, but I'm pretty sure the answer is somewhere in the range of "not that goddam many".

I'd say that the bridge could easily double for (and IMO be a better on screen match with) late TOS/TMP era bridges which would expand the potential suitors... but then you have to subtract those who prefer not to be associated with them and their drama. If I were watching a fan film with monster maroons, I don't think that would look out of place. YMMV. You'd still likely be at not that many regardless though.

Maybe when NV and Continues were at their Heyday but not now.
